Antonio Macciò is currently Full Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Department of Surgical Sciences at University of Cagliari and Chief of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at the Businco Hospital, ARNAS G Brotzu, Cagliari, Italy. She obtained medical degree in Medicine at University of Cagliari in 1984, postgraduate specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1989, postgraduate specialization in Medical Oncology in 1999 at University of Cagliari, Italy. His main research interests include: tumor immunology; immunocompetence of cancer patients and immunotherapy; role of microenvironment and inflammation in ovarian cancer; pathophysiology and treatment of cancer-related anorexia/cachexia; combined modality treatment of gynecological tumors; pathogenesis and treatment of cancer anemia; inflammation and ovarian cancer; pathogenesis and prognostic markers of hormone-dependent breast cancer; palliative and supportive therapy of cancer patients, laparoscopic surgery for gynecological cancers and complex benign gynecological diseases.
