Edison I O Vidal obtained his MD at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 2001, concluded residency training in Family Medicine at Marilia Medical School (FAMEMA) in 2005, obtained a master's degree in Public Health at Campinas State University (UNICAMP) in 2006 and a PhD in Public Health at the same University in 2010 with research on the epidemiology of hip fractures in older adults. In 2017 he became a tenured associate professor of Geriatrics at Sao Paulo State University (UNESP). He works at the interface between clinical medicine and public health and his main areas of research interest involve the care of older adults, palliative care, medical education and evidence-based medicine. Since January 2013 he is an associate editor of Reports in Public Health (Cadernos de Saude Publica). He has worked as a peer reviewer for 19 journals including the BMJ, Medical Education, Osteoporosis International, Movement Disorders, Palliative Medicine and PLoS One. He has published in journals such as the BMJ, Osteoporosis International, the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association and the Annals of Family Medicine.
