Hiya, my name is Bing Lang. I hold both a MD degree in Clinical Medicine and a PhD degree in Neurobiology and currently work as a Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, National Clinical Research Centre for Mental Disorders and National Center for Mental Disorders, the 2nd Xiangya Hospital, Central South University of China. My research interest mainly focuses on the mechanistic understanding of major mental disorders including Schizophrenia, Autism, Depression/Bipolar Depression etc using multiomic approaches and the state-of-art technologies. Thanks to my MD degree and my position at the National Research Centre, I have access to vast clinical samples which places me an unique position to collaborate with awesome clinical staff and basic research scientists in China. I have ever been involved in the generation of human ADCYAP1R1 transgenic mice (J Clin Invest, 2006), truncated Disc1 transgenic mice (J Neurosci, 2008), and conditional ULK4 knockout mice (Schizophr Bull, 2022) to mimic human Schizophrenia, and the IFT172 knockout mice modelling human Autism (J Adv Res, 2024). So far, I have published more than 32 peer-reviewed papers as first or (co)-corresponding author and the total number of my papers is more than 60 in professional Journals including J Clin. Invest., J. Neurosci, Schizophr Bull, Sci. Bull., J Adv. Res., Proc Natl Acad Sci USA, Cell Death Differ etc. My seminal paper about truncated Disc1 transgenic mice modeling the big Scottish Schizophrenia family gene make-up (Shen et al, J Neurosci, 2008, Oct 22;28(43):10893-904, as co-first author) has been cited for more than 300 times so far. I am the Committee Member of the Biological Psychiatry Section, Society of Psychiatry, Chinese Medical Association and Committee Member of the Division of Basic and Clinical Psychiatry, Chinese Society for Neuroscience. I am also the Editorial member of Asian Journal of Psychiatry (Editorial board - Asian Journal of Psychiatry | ScienceDirect.com by Elsevier) and BMC Psychiatry (Editorial Board | BMC Psychiatry), which I regularly assess and review paper submission. Meanwhile, I also provide service such as topic Editor to solicit submission or to write Editorial comments for professional Journals such as Frontiers in Psychiatry and Frontiers in Molecular Neurosci. I am currently acting as one of the topic Editor for Schizophrenia Res (Schizophrenia Research | Cerebellar-cerebral connectivity and cognitive deficits in schizophrenia | ScienceDirect.com by Elsevier). I have been working in the School of Medical Sciences & Nutrition, University of Aberdeen, as Senior Research Fellow for 12 years (2005-2017) and also serve as the Honorary Senior Research Fellow (2017-2022). Based on the extensive collaboration with Researchers in the UK, my research goal is to dissect the molecular and cellular mechanisms and to find out effective therapy for major human mental disorders. Partially thanks to my working/living experience in the UK, I have good communication/interpersonal skills which helps to foster group collaboration, to drive efficiency and to achieve exceptional outcome. I am also good at leading a team for example, building enthusiasm and achieving high-performance. I have extensive expertise to orchestrate resources in order to deliver the objectives in time. I enjoy listening music while jogging and cooking local or abroad cuisine.
