Marco Cascella, MD, works in the Department of Supportive Care at the National Cancer Institute, Fondazione “G. Pascale” – IRCCS, Naples, Italy, where he has responsibility for research in anesthesia and pain medicine. He is also Professor of Physiology on the Degree Course in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques at the Faculty of Medicine, University “Federico II”, Naples, and Professor of Anesthesia, and Pneumology on the Degree Course of School of Nursing at the same University. Dr. Cascella graduated in Medicine and Surgery with honors, in 1997, at the Second University of Naples and then undertook postgraduate studies in anesthesia and intensive care, gaining his doctorate in 2001. Dr. Cascella acts as an editorial board member for several medical journals. He has been a speaker at numerous conferences and conventions, and is the author of about 80 scientific publications, books, book chapters, etc. in the fields of anesthesia, pathophysiology, treatment of pain, oncology, and palliative care.
