I am Dr. Niranga Manjuri Devanarayana, holding a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Amsterdam, and I currently serve as the Chair Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. My academic research focus centers on investigating variations in normal gastric motor functions, complex gastrointestinal motility disorders, and the intricate pathways of the brain-gut axis. This inquiry is driven by an urgent clinical need to improve patient quality of life across their lifespan, setting my work apart by directly linking fundamental laboratory physiology with real-world diagnostic and therapeutic applications in clinical medicine. Regarding my formal academic achievements and contributions, I have published over 90 articles in prestigious international journals, frequently acting as the first or corresponding author. I have also delivered over one hundred scientific presentations at major international conferences, maintained a highly cited global research profile with a strong Google Scholar H-index, received the international IFFGD Junior Investigator Research Award in Pediatrics, and hold esteemed professional memberships as an elected Fellow of the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) Academy and an Associate of the Rome Foundation. In terms of my service to medical literature, I have made significant additional contributions to academic journals by reviewing a wide array of high-level manuscripts as a dedicated reviewer and providing long-term strategic oversight as an active member of the Editorial Boards for both the World Journal of Clinical Paediatrics and the World Journal of Hepatology. My long-term personal and professional goals remain firmly anchored in advancing the frontiers of neurogastroenterology. I intend to dedicate my ongoing research to mapping out the subtle dialogues of gut-brain communication, evaluating autonomic nervous system dysfunctions, and pioneering innovative, non-invasive diagnostic methodologies for global clinical use. To achieve these milestones, I leverage a distinctive suite of professional expertise, including the direct leadership, management, and problem-solving capabilities honed during my tenures as Department Head and Director of the Research Support Centre. I combine these with strong communication, active listening, and mentoring skills, applying them daily to guide doctoral candidates and foster vibrant collaborative research networks.
