Prof. Dr. Akram Al-Ibraheem, MD, FRCP, FEBNM, DCBNC, FANMB, FRCPE is a distinguished physician, researcher, and leader in the field of nuclear medicine. He currently serves as Chairman of the Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT Department at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) in Amman, Jordan, where he has pioneered the introduction of advanced nuclear medicine and theranostic services. Under his leadership, KHCC became the first center in Jordan and the region to implement innovative approaches such as novel molecular PET/CT imaging, peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT), and PSMA-ligand radionuclide therapy, significantly advancing cancer care and precision medicine. Prof. Al-Ibraheem plays an active role in shaping nuclear medicine globally. He is the President of the Asia Oceania Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (AOFNMB), President of the Jordanian Society of Nuclear Medicine, and was the Founding President of the Arab Society of Nuclear Medicine (ARSNM) between 2014 and 2019. He also serves on the Executive Board of the World Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (WFNMB) and works as an adjunct professor at the University of Jordan. Since 2012, he has been a long-standing expert consultant for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and has also contributed his expertise to the World Health Organization (WHO). A dedicated educator, he founded and directs the nuclear medicine residency program at KHCC, training a new generation of specialists in the field. His scholarly contributions are equally remarkable: he has authored and co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed, PubMed-indexed articles, many of which focus on theranostics, PET/CT imaging, and molecular oncology. He is also deeply involved in academic publishing, serving as associate editor of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, QJNMMI, and the Asia Oceania Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (AOJNMB), while also contributing to the editorial boards of leading international journals, including The Journal of Nuclear Medicine (JNM) and European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (EJNMMI). Prof. Al-Ibraheem is a highly sought-after speaker at international conferences, where he shares his expertise in nuclear medicine, theranostics, and molecular imaging. Through his clinical innovations, academic contributions, and global leadership, he continues to shape the future of nuclear medicine in Jordan, the Asia-Oceania region, and worldwide.
