Dr. Cefan Zhou is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Hubei University of Technology, serving as the Vice Dean of the Biomedical Research Institute. He earned his bachelor's degree from Nanchang University, followed by his master's and doctoral degrees from Wuhan University. Additionally, he is a visiting scholar at the University of Alberta, Canada. Dr. Zhou’s research focuses on the mechanisms underlying the development of gastrointestinal tumors and targeted therapies, particularly the early evolution of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and liver cancer, tumor drug resistance, and the development of targeted peptide drugs. He has been honored as a "Chutian Youth Scholar" and ‘‘Distinguished Youth Scholar” of Hubei Province. He has published over 50 SCI papers as Cell Death Differ, Signal Transduct Target Ther, Nature Commun, Autophagy, Mol Cancer, Oncogene, Research (Wash D C), J Adv Res, Biomed Pharmacother etc. Dr. Zhou is also a board member of the Hubei Society of Hepatobiliary Diseases, Hubei Pharmacological Society and a member of various professional organizations, including the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the Chinese Society for Cell Biology (CSCB), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and the Canadian Society for Molecular Biosciences (CSMB). He has served as a reviewer for numerous journals, including Nature Commun, BMC Cancer, Scientific Reports, Functional & Integrative Genomics, Cell Division, Autophagy, Autophagy Reports, Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, and Theranostics. His long-term goals remain on investigating the mechanisms of tumor development and evolution, particularly in pancreatic and liver cancers; exploring autophagy and signal transduction in tumor cell biology; as well as developing peptide-based drugs and addressing tumor drug resistance. His team currently consists of 11 researchers, including 2 professors, 1 associate professor, 5 lecturers, and 3 research assistants, along with 11 PhD students and 30 master's students. He enjoy activities such as hiking, running, and gardening.
