Prof. Sato graduated from the School of Medicine at Jichi Medical University in 1990. He subsequently served at Gunma University Hospital and its affiliated institutions. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1998. In 2023 he was appointed Professor at Takasaki University of Health and Welfare, where he currently serves. He spent three years in the United States as a PhD researcher at the Hitachi Chemical Research Center and at the University of California, Irvine. His academic expertise lies in hepatology, with a particular focus on viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, drug-induced liver injury, and hepatic fibrosis. He has made significant contributions to these fields and serves as a councilor for several professional societies, including the Japan Society of Hepatology and the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology. Over the course of his career, he has supervised numerous graduate students and guided many of them to the successful completion of their doctoral degrees. Prof. Sato is known for his gentle and sincere character, coupled with a forward looking and enterprising spirit that drives him to embrace new challenges. In his approach to medicine, he places strong emphasis on preventive care, aiming to intervene before disease progression rather than focusing solely on treatment. He continually seeks to advance and deliver better medical practices.
