Seungil Ro, obtained his PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Nevada, Reno, US in 2002, where he has been Associate Professor since 2015 in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology in the School of Medicine. His research interest includes gastrointestinal (GI) smooth muscle motility disorders, genetic and epigenetic regulation of gene expression, GI complications in type 2 diabetics, abdominal adhesion, serotonin and GI disorders. He has one US patent and published 42 papers including Nature Genetics and Gastroenterology. He has been serving as a review panel member on two US NIH grants and other national grants as well as serving on the editorial board member of PLoS ONE. He has presented his research in domestic and international conferences 57 times and in universities and institutions 42 times in US, Canada, Australia, Korea, and China. He has trained 6 graduate students, 6 postdoctoral fellows, and 35 undergraduate thesis students. He has also trained a pug puppy which is now a good citizen at home.
