Professor Merrett is the Foundation professor of Surgery, Western Sydney University Australia. He is a specialist upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon with interest in oncology and pancreatic and oesophago gastric cancer. He is the Area Director of Upper GI Surgery in South Western Sydney Local Health District, covering a population of 1.3 million people His research interests include surgical outcomes and surgical optimisation in oncology, variations on care and outcomes, ERAS protocols.
