With a medical degree and a master in biomedical sciences, Tom Gevers started his PhD in 2010 at the department of gastroenterology and hepatology of the Radboudumc in Nijmegen. The main topic of his PhD was polycystic liver disease, with a focus on medical therapies. For his PhD proposal, he has been awarded an individual PhD grant for excellent students. Since then, his scientific interests has expanded to other areas, including but not limited to cystic diseases, cystic infections, viral hepatitis and portal hypertension. At present, Tom Gevers is a gastroenterologist/Hepatologist at Maastricht University Medical Center. With his expertise in interventional therapy, imaging and statistics, he has published several high impact journal papers and book chapters. In addition, he participated in national and international working groups, including the ERN-RARE Liver HRQOL task force. Tom Gevers pursues innovative and longstanding clinical research in his academic career, preferably in collaboration with international research groups.
