After his graduation (magna cum laude) at the University of Bologna in 1994 Alberto Grassi applied in the field of autoimmune and HCV liver diseases obtaining his post graduate fellowship with a dissertation on the topic of ANCA in autoimmune liver disease (magna cum laude) which awarded a prize from the Bologna Section of the Italian Medical Council in 2001. In 2005 he obtained the PhD in Epatologic-Gastroenterologic Sciences at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and in 2007 completed a postPhD fellowship at the University of Bologna with a dissertation on HCV graft re-infection after liver transplantation (LT). From 2006 to present he is working as Resident Physician in the Division of Internal Medicine and Hepatology, at Infermi Hospital, Rimini; from 2013 he is in charge of responsible for Day Hospital and Outpatient section. In 2013 he obtained a Master in Clinical Governance in Internal Medicine, at University Carlo Cattaneo Castellanza (VA), (magna cum laude). He obtained the Rising Star Award from ILTS in 2006 and an Award from ESOT in 2010 for his research in the field of HCV recurrence post LT. He is author of 31 peer reviewed papers on the topics of LT, HCV liver disease, liver steatosis, autoimmune hapato-biliary diseases, clinical immunology and allergy (global IF: 151), 87 abstracts presented at national (25) and international (62) meetings on the same topics. He carried out activity as reviewer for Gut, Journal of Clinical Pathology, Cell Biology and Toxicology, Virology Journal, and World Journal of Gastroenterology.
