With a medical and PhD degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens Greece, Professor of Gastroenterology Konstantinos Triantafyllou joined the Faculty of Medicine of this University in 2006 and became the Head of the Hepatogastroenterology Unit of the Second Department of Internal Medicine at Attikon University Hospital, Athens, Greece in 2007. Over the years, he focused his scientific interests on the topics related to endoscopy, functional bowel diseases, inflammatory bowel diseases and management of premalignant gut disorders. With his expertise in interventional endoscopy and wireless capsule endoscopy, he has participated in research projects and joined European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy guidelines committees on these fields. Following the completion of a sabbatical under the supervision of Professor Mark Pimentel at the Motility Program at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA, USA, in 2013, he established a collaboration research network in the field of functional bowel disorders. He is currently training under- and postgraduate students, as well as, Gastroenterology fellows. He has published numerous SCI journal papers and book chapters, -more than 220 manuscripts indexed in PubMed with more than 5900 Google scholar citations and H-index=39. He is associate editor of three and reviewer for >40 international journals. He is the Chair (2021-2023) of European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) Guidelines Committee, the past (2020) President of the Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology and he has served as Cancillor of the Governing Board of ESGE for 4.5 years and as member of the World Gastroenterology Organization Guidelines Committee for 3 years.
