I am Zhe Dai, MD, PhD, Professor, Chief Physician, and Director of the Department of Endocrinology at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, Wuhan, China. My clinical practice, medical education, and research are dedicated to improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of metabolic diseases through translational medicine and multidisciplinary collaboration. As a clinician-scientist, I am committed to understanding the biological mechanisms linking obesity, diabetes, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), and translating these discoveries into precision prevention, diagnosis, and individualized treatment. My research integrates large-scale clinical cohorts with advanced imaging, liver histopathology, multi-omics technologies, gut microbiota-based therapies, and artificial intelligence to bridge mechanistic discovery with clinical practice. What distinguishes my work is the integration of multidisciplinary evidence across clinical medicine, imaging, pathology, molecular biology, and digital health to address clinically relevant questions and accelerate bench-to-bedside translation. To date, I have published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles as first or corresponding author in leading international journals, including Radiology, Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Obesity, Metabolism, Cell Death & Disease, Frontiers in Endocrinology, Frontiers in Microbiology, and World Journal of Diabetes. My publications have received more than 1669 citations with a Google Scholar H-index of 17, and I have delivered invited lectures at numerous national and international scientific meetings. I currently serve as Principal Investigator of projects funded by the National Key Research and Development Program of China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In addition, I serve as Vice Chairman of the Diabetes Society of the Hubei Medical Association, Youth Committee Member of the Diabetes Society of the Chinese Medical Association, Vice Chairman of the Advanced Technology Committee of the China Type 1 Diabetes Alliance, and Associate Editor of Clinical Nutrition. Academic publishing is an important part of my professional career. I have actively served as a peer reviewer for numerous international journals in the fields of endocrinology, diabetes, obesity, metabolism, hepatology, and clinical nutrition, and have reviewed more than 20 manuscripts. I have also authored 5 invited review articles, editorials, and expert commentaries. I regard peer review as a professional responsibility and an opportunity to uphold scientific integrity, facilitate constructive academic communication, and promote the dissemination of high-quality clinical and translational research. My long-term goal is to advance precision metabolic medicine by integrating clinical care, translational research, and digital innovation. I am particularly committed to developing multidisciplinary strategies for obesity, diabetes, MASLD, and related metabolic disorders through the establishment of a comprehensive Chronic Disease Multimorbidity Management Center, where multidisciplinary clinical care, precision diagnostics, artificial intelligence, gut microbiota therapeutics, and real-world research can be seamlessly integrated. I hope this platform will not only improve individualized patient care but also generate high-quality clinical evidence and accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into routine medical practice. Throughout my career, I have developed strong leadership, communication, mentoring, and management skills through directing multidisciplinary clinical teams, leading multicenter clinical studies, and supervising graduate students and young physicians. I value active listening, interdisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based decision-making, and I enjoy bringing together clinicians, researchers, engineers, and data scientists to solve complex clinical and scientific problems. My experience in integrating clinical medicine with advanced imaging, pathology, omics technologies, microbiome science, and artificial intelligence has enabled me to establish collaborative research platforms that bridge basic science with clinical application while fostering the next generation of physician-scientists. Outside my professional activities, I enjoy reading scientific literature, designing innovative clinical research projects, mentoring young investigators, and exploring emerging advances in precision medicine and artificial intelligence. I firmly believe that curiosity, lifelong learning, multidisciplinary collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to scientific excellence are the driving forces behind meaningful discoveries and better patient care.
