Dr. Mardani is a distinguished Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Urmia University, Iran. Having received his DVM degree from Urmia University in 1996, Dr. Mardani employed as an instructor at Urmia University in 1996. He awarded a PhD scholarship form the Iranian Ministry of Sciences, Research and Technology to undertake his postgraduate training at the Faculty of Veterinary Science, The University of Melbourne, Australia in 2002. After a four year PhD training at the University of Melbourne (2002-2006), Dr. Mardani returned to Iran and employed as an assistant Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Urmia University in 2006. Dr. Mardani received a research fellowship award for six months from Australian government to undertake a research project under the instruction of Professor Glenn F. Browning in 2009. He was promoted to Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Urmia University in 2016. His ongoing research interests are molecular epidemiology of animal viral diseases (IBV, CAV, LSD). He is the assistant editor and a member of the editorial board of Veterinary Research Forum, Journal of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Urmia University. He is a reviewer of several scientific journals, and has published more than 55 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Mardani served as the head of Department of Food Hygiene and Quality control, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Urmia University (2008 to 2014). Currently, he is working as a full Professor in molecular epidemiology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Urmia University, Iran.
