I am Jianan Zhao, PhD, a Post.coc at Temple university. My work focuses on integrating epigenetics, genetics, metabolism, and immunology to decode the molecular mechanisms driving complex diseases such as autoimmune disorders, metabolic syndromes, cardiovascular conditions, and liver pathologies. Motivated by the urgent need to translate scientific discoveries into clinical solutions, I strive to bridge the gap between mechanistic research and therapeutic innovation, leveraging interdisciplinary approaches to address unmet medical challenges. To date, I have published 45 peer-reviewed articles and my contributions have been recognized with an H-index of 15 (Google Scholar). My research has been presented at conferences, where I actively engage in cross-disciplinary dialogues to advance global scientific collaboration.As a dedicated peer reviewer, I have evaluated 100+ manuscripts for journals under publishers such as Elsevier, Frontiers, MDPI, Springer, and Bentham, upholding rigorous scientific standards while mentoring early-career researchers through constructive feedback. My long-term research vision centers on unraveling the heterogeneity of autoimmune and metabolic diseases to develop personalized therapies. By combining multi-omics approaches with clinical data, I aim to identify biomarkers for early diagnosis and design targeted interventions that align with the principles of precision medicine. A key focus is exploring synergies between traditional Chinese medicine and modern molecular biology, such as how herbal compounds modulate epigenetic pathways in chronic inflammation.Professionally, I pride myself on synthesizing active listening, clear communication, and collaborative problem-solving to lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior scientists, and manage complex research projects. My expertise spans experimental design, data interpretation, and translating findings into clinically relevant solutions.Outside of research, I enjoy singing pop and rock classics (often in karaoke sessions with friends), keeping colorful betta fish as low-maintenance pets, and exploring local hiking trails on weekends. Traveling to cities with rich history—like Xi’an or Kyoto—always inspires me, while listening to blues and 80s Cantopop helps me unwind after long lab days. These simple joys keep me grounded.
