Dr. Chandra Sekhar Devulapalli, MD, PhD, is a senior pediatric consultant currently practicing at the Outpatient Pediatric Polyclinic, Medical Department, Helgeland Hospital, Sandnessjøen, Norway. A certified pediatrician, he brings specialized expertise in pediatric gastroenterology, nutrition, pulmonology, and pediatric allergies. With a profound commitment to advancing child health and wellbeing, Dr. Devulapalli has remained deeply engaged in both clinical care and academic research. Dr. Devulapalli holds a PhD (Doctor Medicinae) from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (March 2008). His dissertation, titled “Inhaled corticosteroids in children: use and effects of early treatment on asthma and lung function. Prevalence of asthma and impact of severity in early life on later asthma in childhood,” was publicly defended at the University of Oslo under the supervision of Prof. Kai-Håkon Carlsen. His research spans pediatric pulmonology, gastroenterology, nutrition, COVID-19, and general pediatrics. Recently, he has contributed four review articles on vitamin D status in children, published in respected international journals. Dr. Devulapalli has authored more than 40 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, including prestigious publications such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Thorax (BMJ), Archives of Disease in Childhood, and the European Respiratory Journal. His work has received over 1,700 citations on Google Scholar, and he serves as a reviewer for leading medical journals, including BMJ and The Lancet. Over the years, his outstanding research contributions have been widely recognized. His accolades include: 1) Director’s Prize for Outstanding Research, Ullevål University Hospital (2005, 2010), 2) Klosterstiftelsen Research Prize in pediatric allergology and pulmonology, Voksentoppen BKL, Rikshospitalet (2005), 3) Named among the Top 10 International Role Models in Norwegian Working Life by the Directorate of Integration and Diversity (2007), 4) Lung Prize for Best Publication, Norwegian Society of Pulmonary Medicine (2008), 5) Research Prize, Ringerike Hospital, for a high-impact article published in Thorax (2008).
