Dimitris Papadimitriou was born in Thessaloniki and grew up in Athens where he graduated with honors from the Varvakeio Model School. He received his degree in Medicine and his Doctoral Dissertation on Pediatric Endocrinology at the Medical Department of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Patras. Initially he specialized in Pediatrics for 4 years at the Regional General University Hospital of Patras.He then trained for 4 years in Pediatric Endocrinology in France. He received a two-year Master's Degree (DIU) in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes from the University of Paris V, with clinical training at the University Pediatric Hospital St Vincent de Paul in Paris. He also trained for 1 year (master) in Medical Pedagogy at the Joseph-Fourier University of Grenoble in France, where he worked as a Lecturer - Head of the University Clinic (Chef de Clinique des Universités) on Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology in a regular position. Grenoble University Hospital for 2 years. He then returned to Greece and since December 2005, organized and directs the Department of Pediatrics - Adolescent Endocrinology and Diabetes of the Athens Pediatric Center in Maroussi, while he was also a Special Research Fellow - University and Academic Pediatric Fellow Hospital for 12 years (2006-2017). As a culmination of his scientific career in September 2019, he applied for the position of Associate Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since May 2001, he also serves as Senior Lecturer - Academic Fellow at the Endocrine Unit of 2nd Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Aretaieion University Hospital of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
