Baogang Zhang , Ph.D., is a Second-Level Professor, Chief Physician, and Doctoral Supervisor. He is the Director of the Pathology Department at Shaoxing People Hospital and the Head of the Pathology Department at Shandong Second Medical University. Professor Zhang Baogang's team has established a stable and distinctive research direction in the study of the molecular mechanisms of tumor invasion and metastasis. Tumor cell invasion into surrounding tissues and distant metastasis are critical factors affecting treatment outcomes and prognosis. The molecular mechanisms by which cytokines released by inflammatory cells in the tumor microenvironment promote tumor cell invasion and metastasis are not yet fully understood. Clarifying these mechanisms and developing targeted strategies to inhibit tumor invasion and metastasis could save more lives. With support from the National Natural Science Foundation, the team has conducted research on the mechanisms by which cytokines in the tumor microenvironment promote tumor invasion and metastasis, as well as the intervention and application of these findings. The research results have been promoted and applied in several tertiary hospitals. Immunohistochemical detection of signaling pathway molecules related to tumor invasion and metastasis in tumor tissues has proven to be of significant value in assessing tumor prognosis and recurrence, closely correlating with the grading and staging of malignant tumors. For certain malignant tumors that are challenging to grade, these findings provide crucial diagnostic reference value. The application of these findings has yielded positive social and indirect economic benefits. I have been awarded honors such as the "Shandong Province Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Expert with Significant Contributions," "Qilu Health and Leading Talent in Health from the Shandong Provincial Health Commission," "Shandong Province May 1st Labor Medal," "Weifang City Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Expert with Significant Contributions," and "Famous Doctor of Weifang." I lead the "Research Team on the Molecular Mechanisms of Tumor Invasion and Metastasis" at Shandong Second Medical University and serve as the Deputy Chairman of the Tumor Pathology Committee of the Shandong Anti-Cancer Association. I specialize in the pathological diagnosis of tumors across various systems and forensic pathology. I have undertaken and completed three National Natural Science Foundation projects and two Shandong Provincial Natural Science Foundation projects, establishing a stable research direction with notable characteristics in the study of the molecular mechanisms of tumor invasion and metastasis. I have won the second prize of the Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award as the primary recipient and the first prize of the Shandong Provincial Higher Education Outstanding Achievement Award, with over 80 academic papers published. I have led three National Natural Science Foundation projects, two Shandong Provincial Natural Science Foundation projects, and one research project from the Shandong Provincial Department of Education. As the primary contributor, I have received multiple science and technology awards, including the second prize of the Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and the first prize of the Higher Education Outstanding Research Achievement Award. I have also been awarded the second prize of the Weifang City Natural Science Award. I have published over 40 papers in JCR Q1 and Q2 SCI-indexed journals such as European Journal of Cancer, Carcinogenesis, British Journal of Cancer, and Molecular Carcinogenesis. I serve as a review expert for the National Natural Science Foundation and the Ministry of Education's Degree Center. Additionally, I am a committee member of the Shandong Medical Association's Pathology Branch and the Shandong Anti-Cancer Association. I have been invited to serve as a peer reviewer for several SCI journals, including the British Journal of Cancer and the European Journal of Cancer.
