Dear Editor in Chief My name is Hossein Hemmatazad, and I currently serve as an Assistant Professor and Senior Consultant in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Bern University Hospital, Switzerland. I have more than a decade of experience in the field and specialize in the treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) tumors, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), online adaptive radiotherapy (oART), neuo-endocrine tumors and pediatric radiation oncology. One of my core clinical interests lies in leveraging advanced radiotherapy technologies to improve oncologic outcomes and reduce treatment-related toxicity. In our department, we are one of the few centers globally with routine implementation of online adaptive radiotherapy for esophageal cancer. I am currently the principal investigator of a prospective clinical trial exploring this technique. In parallel, I am involved in several retrospective analyses focusing on radiologic response and treatment personalization in GI cancers. My academic track record includes over 30 peer-reviewed publications, with approximately 10 articles as first or corresponding author, in leading radiation oncology and oncology journals. I have accumulated more than 1,000 citations and currently hold an h-index of 14. I am a frequent invited speaker at national and international congresses, having delivered more than 10 scientific presentations to date. I also contribute to the broader academic community by serving as a peer reviewer for multiple international journals, with a portfolio of over 50 completed reviews. I am particularly committed to the future of GI oncology in radiation therapy and believe that combining innovative treatment modalities like oART and SBRT with biological and imaging data will shape the next frontier in personalized medicine. I collaborate closely with clinical and academic partners worldwide and actively engage in interdisciplinary research. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, reading, and attending cinema, theatre, and classical music concerts. I value teamwork, scientific curiosity, and continuous learning—both professionally and personally.
