Qing Zhu is Professor of Chinese Academy of Medical Science & Peking Union Medical College and Principal Investigator in the Department of Pharmacology. After having completed his medical education at Capital Medical University and residency at Beijing Friendship Hospital, he obtained a Ph.D. degree from McMaster University and then moved to Bethesda for a postdoctoral fellowship and later took a research fellow position at National Institutes of Health. His research focuses primarily on the cellular immune responses to vaccines and aims to elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in T cell immunity particularly at the mucosa surfaces against infectious and inflammatory diseases as well as cancer. His work also explores the therapeutic potential of stem cell technology in disease models and is pursuing interdisciplinary research at the interface of basic and applied science to understand how stem cells could be manipulated to treat the diseases that are still incurable.
