Dimitrios Tsiachris is a cardiologist – interventional electrophysiologist, Assistant Professor in National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He was admitted through Panhellenic Examinations in Athens Medical School in 1995. He was trained in cardiology in the First Cardiologist Clinic, Hippokration Hospital next to the Professor Christodoulos Stefanadis. He was specialized in interventional electrophysiology in the notorious «San Rafaelle Hospital, Milan, Italy» by Professor Paolo Della Bella through a scholarship of the Hellenic Cardiological Society. He is an expert in performing the whole spectrum of conventional and complex procedures in interventional electrophysiology (>5000), such as ablation of any kind of arrhythmias and implantation of all available cardiac devices (pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization therapy). He is a proctor in Greece and Europe for cryoablation procedures of atrial fibrillation and he has been using limited mark release technologies. His primary scientific interest is atrial fibrillation ablation by means of thermal and non-thermal sources with multiple investigator protocols, as well as the management of atrial fibrillation in the setting of the emergency department through the HEROMEDICUS and FLECA-ED protocols His primary expertise beyond atrial fibrillation is endo-epicardial ablation of complex ventricular tachycardias by using all the updated versions of electroanatomical mapping and risk stratification of sudden cardiac death especially in the filed of preserved ejection fraction (PRESERVE-EF study). He has published more than 210 peer-reviewed papers, most of them with a high impact factor. He is a co-founder one of the best EP and Pacing Labs in «Athens Heart Center» in Athens Medical Center and has trained numerous young electrophysiologists. He is also specialized in leadless pacemakers implantation, left atrial appendage closure as well as in renal denervation procedures. He is a Fellow of European Heart Rhythm Association and the president of the Working Group of the Hellenic Cardiological Society for Strokes. He is also the president and founder of the Hellenic Association of Heart and Autonomic Nervous System.
