Maurizio G Abrignani, having received his MD degree from MD at the University of Palermo in 1984, undertook his postgraduate training becoming Specialist in Cardiovascular Diseases in 1987 and in Internal Medicine in 1993 and obtained a Master in Arterial Hypertension and Cardiovascular Prevention in 1994 in the same University. He was Medical Assistant (from 1991) and then currently Medical Manager (from 1994) at the Operative Unit of Cardiology of the S. Antonio Abate Hospital of Trapani. He is Professor at contract of Cardiovascular Diseases Epidemiology and Prevention at the postgraduate School in Cardiology of the University of Palermo from 2004. His ongoing research interests are cardiovascular diseases epidemiology, arterial hypertension, dyslipidemias, and primary and secondary cardiovascular prevention. He is Associate Editor of the Monaldi Archieves of Chest Diseases, a member of the editorial boards and a reviewer of several scientific journals. He has published more than 320 papers in national and international journals and is co-author of 41 books chapters. He is Fellow of the Italian Associazione Nazionale Medici Cardiologi Ospedalieri (ANMCO) and served as member of the National Board (2010-2014) and Chairperson of the Coordinating Committee of the Prevention Area of the ANMCO (2017-2018). https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0237-7157.
