Dr. Ashraf possesses over 15 years of combined experience in teaching, research, and innovation across the biological, health, and medical sciences. Throughout his career, he has delivered concise and impactful course material, led cutting-edge research, contributed to high-impact publications, developed curricula, and driven innovation strategies. He has taught a wide range of subjects at both graduate and postgraduate levels, including Advanced Clinical Chemistry, Advanced Laboratory Techniques, Biology, Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Genome Expression and Maintenance, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to Evolution and Genetics, Introduction to Research, Molecular Biology, Recombinant DNA Technology, and Research Methods. Dr. Ashraf’s primary research focus is neuropharmacology, particularly the development of novel therapeutic strategies in animal models of multiple sclerosis. His laboratory also investigates the effects of newly FDA-approved antidiabetic drugs on antipsychotic drug-induced weight gain. To date, he has authored 435 scientific manuscripts (citations: 18,482; H-index: 70; i10-index: 290) and participated in 26 research grants. He has supervised 4 PhD, 3 master’s, and 7 bachelor’s students in thesis-based research projects, served as an examiner for 17 PhD and master’s theses, and reviewed 5 research grant and award applications. Dr. Ashraf is extensively involved in editorial work for leading scientific journals. He serves as Associate Editor for Journal of Advanced Research, Senior Evidence-Based Medicine Editor for Scientific Reports, Academic Editor for PLoS One, and Section Editor for Current Neuropharmacology and Current Alzheimer Research. His contributions include 724 Web of Science–verified editorial records and 678 verified reviewer records. Additionally, he has acted as guest editor for 21 special issues in reputable international journals and participated in 41 scientific meetings worldwide. Professionally, Dr. Ashraf is affiliated with the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Member), Canadian Association of Neuroscience (Member), Royal Society of Medicine (Fellow), Royal Society of Biology (Member), and Chinese Neuroscience Society (Member). In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Ashraf has been named a Top Peer Reviewer in ‘Biology and Biochemistry’ and ‘Cross Field’ by Web of Science, listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the World (2020), and recognized as an Expertscape World Expert in Alzheimer’s Disease and Neurodegenerative Disorders since 2020. The AD Index has ranked him as a top biochemistry scientist in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Most notably, he has been listed among the Top 2% of Scientists Worldwide since 2022 (Plos-Elsevier-Stanford).
