Dr. Xiang Yao is an Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Fiber Materials, Donghua University, China. He received his PhD and completed his Postdoctoral Research Fellow both at Fudan University, China. His research focuses on biomedical silk fibroin and bioactive interfaces, as well as green processing and recycling of cellulose fibers. He has led more than 14 research projects, including the Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, the International Cooperation Fund of the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, and the Sub-project of the National Key Research and Development Program of China. He has published over 50 SCI papers in journals such as Adv. Mater., Biomaterials, Adv. Fiber Mater, Adv. Sci., Acta Biomater. and Compos. Part B-Eng. Three of his publications as the first author or corresponding author have been selected as highly cited papers by the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database and recognized as core papers at the international academic forefront in the field of cell-material interactions. His published work has generated extensive international impact, receiving positive citations from scientists in over 50 countries or regions worldwide. Additionally, he has applied for more than 20 Chinese invention patents, with more than 15 already granted. He has also been invited to contribute to three academic books, including “Regenerative Medicine: Biomaterials and Tissue Regeneration”, “Biomaterial Surface and Interface Modifications” and “Biomaterials for Vasculogenesis and Angiogenesis”. Currently, he serves as a committee member of the Medical Biomaterials and Technology Professional Committee of the China Medicine Education Association and the Biomaterials Professional Committee of the Shanghai Society of Biomedical Engineering. Concurrently serving as a review expert for the Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education. He has received awards such as the First Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of Science and Technology Award from the Chinese Materials Research Society, the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award of Shanghai, the Outstanding Graduate of Shanghai, and the Second Place in the “Science as Art” International Competition.
