Dr. A. Brunetti is a Professor in Endocrinology an Metabolism, University “Magna Græcia”, Catanzaro. He graduated in 1983 in medicine with highest honors at the University of Catania, Italy. In 1986 he obtained his specialty in “Endocrinology and Metabolism” from the same University. In 1992, PhD degree in “Endocrinologic and Metabolic Sciences” (University of Naples, Italy), while he was working at the Division of Diabetes & Endocrine Research, University of California San Francisco (UCSF), USA. From 2008-2016, Cohordinator of the PhD programme in “Endocrine-Metabolic and Nutritional Sciences” (University “Magna Græcia” of Catanzaro). Currently he is a member of the PhD programme in “Biomarkers of chronic and complex diseases”, and Director of the “Operative Unit-Endocrinology and Metabolism” at the Azienda Mater Domini, University “Magna Græcia” of Catanzaro, Italy. His major areas of research include: pathophysiology of insulin action; molecular genetics of type 2 diabetes and severe insulin resistance syndromes; obesity and metabolic syndrome; transcriptional regulation of glucose metabolism; insulin resistance and cancer. He is a member of the following professional societies: American Diabetes Association (ADA); European Society of Endocrinology (ESE); Italian Society of Diabetes (SID); Italian Society of Endocrinology (SIE); European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD); American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
