Zhao-Jia Ge, PhD, Professor, College of Animal Science, Institute of Reproductive Sciences, Key Laboratory of Animal Reproduction and Germplasm Enhancement in Universities of Shandong, Qingdao Agricultural University, Qingdao, P.R. China. We are mainly interested in the influence of maternal diabetes and obesity on the reproduction and offspring health, the role of epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation in the abnormal embryo development, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and offspring health and its transgenerational inheritance induced by maternal diabetes and obesity, and how to improve the reproduction of maternal diabetes and obesity using natural bioactive substances. We have published more than 20 articles, cited >800, in Nature Communications, eLife, Human Reproduction, BMC Biology etc as first author or corresponding author. My H-index in Researchgate is 20, and in Web of Science is 19. As peer reviewer, having reviewed more than 50 articles for Diabetes Care, Human Reproduction, FSAB Journal, Food Function, etc, written a editorial for Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, and worked as guest editor for Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology. I am also as associated editor for Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology in Cell Growth and Division Section. Our aims are to elucidate how maternal diabetes and obesity affect the reprogramming in oocytes, the mechanisms of the transgenerational inheritance of changed epigenetic modifications through oocytes, and how to improve the reproduction and offspring health of females with diabetes and obesity. We have a good team including students and 3 teachers. Currently, 5 graduate students, one of which will get her master degree in July, are working in my lab, and 8 students have graduated from my lab and obtained their master degree. I had worked in McGill University Health Centre for aobut 3 years as postdoctoral fellow and visiting professor. After work, I like to play basketball and walk, and sometimes I also play volleyball.
