Dr. Xingwu Ran is currently the director of the Sichuan Provincial Clinical Medical Research Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases, the director of the Sichuan Provincial Center for Medical Quality Control of Endocrinology, the director of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Department at West China Hospital of Sichuan University, the director of the Diabetes Foot Diagnosis and Treatment Center at West China Hospital, the director of the Endocrine Disease Research Institute, the director of the Diabetes Foot Innovation Research Laboratory, the director of the Diabetes Peripheral Vascular Lesions Sub-center of the Vascular Center at West China Hospital, a professor, chief physician, doctoral and master's degree supervisor, and a postdoctoral cooperation supervisor. He has led two National Natural Science Foundation projects, two sub-projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology's major projects, over 20 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects, and national new drug/instrument clinical GCP research projects. He has published over 300 papers. As the principal investigator, he has won one first prize and one third prize for scientific and technological progress in Sichuan Province, one third prize for the Chinese Medical Science Award, one PCT patent, five national invention patents, and three computer software copyrights. Throughout his career, Dr. Ran has not only emphasized clinical diagnosis and treatment but also devoted himself to basic research and clinical translation. In clinical practice, in addition to common endocrine and metabolic diseases, he has particularly deep expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes-related peripheral vascular lesions and foot diseases. He was the first to establish a multidisciplinary collaborative team for the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic foot at home, established the preparation process of autologous platelet gel, and first applied this technology to the clinical treatment of diabetic foot with remarkable efficacy. At the same time, he established a multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment model for diabetic foot and diabetic peripheral artery disease and a two-way referral model for serving grassroots hospitals. In addition, led by Dr. Ran Xingwu, the Chinese Medical Association Diabetes Society, Infection Disease Society, and Tissue Repair and Regeneration Society organized multidisciplinary experts on diabetic foot to write and release the "Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Diabetic Foot in China", providing a direction for standardizing the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic foot in China.
