Dr. Andrea Lisotti is a board-certified gastroenterologist and expert in diagnostic and interventional endoscopy, with a focus on pancreatobiliary diseases. He currently serves as the Head of Complex Biliopancreatic Endoscopy at the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Unit of Imola Hospital (AUSL Imola, Italy), where he holds a permanent senior medical position with high specialization. He is also a contract professor at the University of Bologna, where he teaches in several postgraduate programs, including the Master of Advanced Endoscopy “Luigi Barbara.” Dr. Lisotti earned his Medical Degree from the University of Bologna in 2007, where he later completed his residency in Gastroenterology (2014). He also obtained a Level I Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Functional Foods (2008) and a Level II Master’s Degree in Advanced Endoscopy (2017), both from the University of Bologna. His postgraduate education has been enriched by international fellowships in France (Lyon, under Dr. Bertrand Napoléon), the Netherlands (Amsterdam UMC), and the United States (University of Chicago), where he trained in advanced biliopancreatic and therapeutic endoscopy. He has developed substantial expertise in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), diagnostic and interventional endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), EUS-guided biliary and gallbladder drainage, management of pancreatic fluid collections, gastroenterostomy, and radiofrequency ablation of pancreatic lesions. Over the past decade, he has performed thousands of advanced endoscopic procedures, with documented outcomes and technical quality certified by his institution. Dr. Lisotti is the Scientific Coordinator of the national Master EUS Academy, promoted by the Italian Association of Hospital Gastroenterologists (AIGO), and an active member of the Italian national research group on therapeutic EUS (I-EUS). He is involved in multiple national and international research collaborations on EUS image enhancement, EUS-guided tissue acquisition, and clinical outcomes of therapeutic endoscopy. He has been principal investigator or co-investigator in several multicenter studies published in peer-reviewed journals, including the REUBIO and EPIC-GBD studies. He is a frequent speaker and live demonstrator at international conferences, including ESGE Days, EURO-EUS, UEG Week, and the EGEUS and EUS Italy workshops. He has also served as scientific secretary for multiple national EUS meetings and is a member of scientific commissions dedicated to pancreatic diseases and quality improvement in endoscopy. Dr. Lisotti is fluent in English and French and is actively engaged in academic mentorship and clinical education. In 2023, he received the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for full professorship (first tier) in Gastroenterology. His research and clinical focus aim to advance minimally invasive approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of complex gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary disorders.
