Prof Rakesh Kochhar, MD, DM, FAMS . I am currently Professor and head of Gastroenterology at NIMS University, Jaipur India and Director of Gastroenterology at Paras Hospital, Panchkula, India. I was earlier heading the department of Gastroenterology at PGIMER, a premier medical Institute at Chandigarh, India. I have been an academician, teacher and researcher, having trained over 200 fellows in Gastroenterology. I have grown with the expansion of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy in the last four decades. I have had fellowships awarded for training at Mayo Clinic, USA and St Bart's Hospital, England. I have been a pioneer in some of the endoscopy techniques, including intralesional steroid injections for strictures and I had devised the technique of endoscopic fine needle aspiration cytology. I was instrumental in devising endoscopic grading of caustic injury to the GI tract, with the largest number of publications on caustic injury. I have over 500 articles in indexed journals . Over 210 articles have me as the first or the corresponding author. Areas of my publications include endoscopic dilatation of strictures, dilatation of gastric outlet obstruction, acute pancreatitis and celiac disease. I have been on the editorial boards of Pancreatology, Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility, and World journal of Gastroenterology. currently I am the Senior Editor of Gastroenterology. I have been a reviewer for Lancet, Gastroenterlogy, CGH, BMJ, WJGe and others.
