Nozomu Kobayashi, MD, PhD. I am the Director of the Cancer Screening Center, National Cancer Center Hospital and also Chief of Cancer Screening Assessment and Management Division, National Cancer Center Institute for Cancer Control, Tokyo. My specialty is colonoscopy, and I have extensive experience in diagnostic procedures using magnifying endoscopy, as well as endoscopic treatments such as EMR and ESD. I served as the administrative officer for CREATE-J, a multicenter collaborative study on colonic ESD. Furthermore, I play an important role in cancer screening in Japan and have been involved in developing guidelines and manuals. I am a Board-certified fellow and trainer of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society, Board-certified trainer of the Japanese Association for Capsule Endoscopy, Board-certified fellow of the Japanese Gastroenterological Association, Board-certified member of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, Councilor of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society, and Representative of the Japanese Society of Gastrointestinal Cancer Screening. I have been an author or co-author on over 60 papers related to esophageal cancer treatment, esophageal cancer risk factors, gastric ESD, colorectal cancer diagnosis using magnifying colonoscopy, colorectal EMR and ESD, some social medicine research, and epidemiological research. In particular, regarding colonoscopy research, I have reported numerous achievements, including long-term outcomes of ESD, comparative studies of EMR and ESD, and prospective trials of non-lifting sign, which are also cited in guidelines.
