Dr. Yun-Zheng Le is the Harold Hamm Chair in Diabetes Research and Professor of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Cell Biology and Ophthalmology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). He received BS in Biochemistry at Fudan University in china, PhD in Biology/Microbiology at Dalhousie University in Canada, and postdoctoral training in genome biology at Dalhousie and cellular and molecular biology and Cre/lox and inducible gene expression technologies at National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States. Dr. Le was recruited to vision research at OUHSC in 2000. He has published over 80 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters (H-Index: 31) and has given over 150 presentations and invited talks. Dr. Le has served as a regular reviewer for US National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation, British Medical Research Council, and various other funding agencies. He has also served as an editor, editorial board member, and reviewer for various journals. Dr. Le’s current research is focused on the mechanisms and therapeutic strategies for diabetic retinopathy (DR), age-related macular degeneration, and retinal neuroprotection, as well as alteration of visual signaling in DR and hypoxic retinal disorders. To advance vision research, Dr. Le has also shared his genetically altered mouse lines and expertise to over 100 laboratories in the world. As an active mentor, Dr. Le has trained approximately 50 faculties, postdoctoral fellows, scholars, and students.
