Dr. Chinedum Ogbonnaya Eleazu is an expert in Clinical Nutrition and Diabetes. He obtained his B.Sc, M.Sc. and Ph.D degrees in General Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry and Nutritional Biochemistry in 2003, 2009 and 2015 respectively from the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Nigeria. He worked as a Research Officer/Senior Research Officer at the National Root Crops Research Institute Umudike, Abia State, Nigeria from 2008 to September, 2015. In October 2015, he was appointed as a Lecturer 1 in the Department of Chemistry/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-Funai), Ebonyi State, Nigeria. In 2018, he was awarded a Postdoctoral fellowship by the Universiti Sains Malaysia, to conduct a study on the 'effect of Bee bread on biochemical, oxidative stress, inflammatory and apoptotic markers in the muscle and kidney of obese animal models'. In 2019, he became a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, AE-Funai, where he currently works.    In recognition of his contribution to the Health Sciences, in 2019, he received a National Award (PROFESSOR FRIDAY E. OKONOFUA PRIZE IN HEALTH SCIENCES), from the Nigerian Young Academy. In the SciVal (Scopus) ranking of 500 top authors in Nigeria for the period 2014 to 2019, he was ranked 187 in Nigeria and first in AE-FUNAI. He was also ranked first amongst the first 10 Best Scientists in AE-FUNAI by the AD Scientific Index for the period, 2022. His ongoing research interests are on: diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, benign prostatic hyperplasia, natural product chemistry and in these areas, he has published over eighty articles (including two book chapters) in reputable journals that are indexed in several electronic data bases (including Science Citation Index Expanded) and which articles have received over 2000 citations as recorded by google scholar. Dr. Eleazu is a prolific writer and a member of several academic bodies including: the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the African Society of Science Editors and the American Society for Nutrition. He currently serves as a peer reviewer to several reputable scientific journals
