I earned Ph.D. in Molecular Cellular Biology at University of Florida, College of Medicine. I worked with Professor Anna Mae Diehl as a research associate from 2006 to 2008 and an assistant professor from 2008 to 2010 at Duke University College of Medicine, division of gastroenterology. In 2010, I joined the faculty of the department of Biological Sciences at Pusan National University where I have been working as an associate professor since 2014. My research is focused on mechanisms underlying the progression of liver diseases, especially cellular response of liver progenitor and hepatic stellate cells, to microenvironmental changes caused by disease. With those researches, I aim to develop the therapeutic methods that prevent the progression to chronic liver disease by utilizing the knowledge of the transdifferentiation mechanism of progenitors and hepatic stellate cells. I has published more than 40 papers in reputed journals.
