He was trained at the University of Naples “Federico II” and at Sapienza University of Rome. He completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in neurogastroenterology and motility at the University of Bologna and in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy at the National Cancer Institute of Naples. Currently he is involved in pediatric gastroenterology and digestive endoscopy, teaching and research at the Department of Neuroscience, Mental Health and Sense Organs (NESMOS) of Sapienza University of Rome. Professor Di Nardo's main research interests relate to basic and clinical aspects of pediatric functional gastrointestinal disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, digestive endoscopy and severe gastrointestinal motility disorders. He has authored more than 120 indexed peer-reviewed articles and reviews on these topics, published in various biomedical journals, including Lancet, Gastroenterology, Pediatrics, Journal of Pediatrics, American Journal of Gastroenterology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He is, or has been, a member of the Editorial Board of Nutrition (associate editor), World Journal of Gastroenterology, Microorganisms other international scientific Journals.
