Born in Brescia (Italy)  the 19 of may 1964. Graduated with laude in Medicine in 1989, Residency in General surgery completd in 1994 with laude. Research Fellowship in colorectal Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation during the years 1995-1997. Staff surgeon at the Department of Surgery of the IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital in Milan staring in 1998. . Associate professor of surgery in 2016. Current position Head of IBD disease Unit at Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery at San Raffaele Research Hospital.  Professor Vignali is the author-coauthor of more than 100 experimental and clinical articles on laparoscopic approach on colon and rectal surgery, nutrition and immune nutrition in surgery.Actual H index 35 (reference Scopus). Previous positions National coordinator of the mini-invasive section of the Italian Society of Colorectal Surgery in the year 2008-10. Member of the International Rectal cancer Study Group and co-Author of recommendations and algorithms for treatment of rectal cancer patients. Member of the Onco-TEAM, promoted by the Italian Society of Oncologic Surgery focused on the creation of guidelines and clinical trials in the field of colon and rectal cancer. Principal investigator or co-investigator in many trials focused on the mini-invasive approach to colon and rectal surgery and to new technologies.
