Giovanni Marasco gets his Medical Degree at the University of Bologna, where he also started his research career in 2013 studying non-invasive tests for diagnosis and prognosis of liver cirrhosis and its complications, i.e. portal hypertension and hepatocellular carcinoma. He continued his work on this field in 2014 starting the Ph.D. in Gastroenterology and Hepatology focused on the use of Ultrasonography of the liver and the spleen, that ended in 2017. By the beginning of the Post-Graduate Training Program, he additionally worked on the creation of digestive disease registries (i.e. chronic liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma, Barrett's esophagus) and on the characterization of gut microbiota in digestive diseases. He is now employed as Clinical Researcher at the Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopy Unit of S.Orsola Malpighi Hospital, Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences, University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy.
