Senior Consultant Endocrinologist at G.D Hospital & Diabetes Institute, Kolkata & Sun Valley Hospital & Diabetes Research Center, Guwahati, India. Initially trained as a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science (M.B.B.S) at Calcutta National Medical College, University of Kolkata in 1995, he subsequently completed his M.D in Internal Medicine from N.R.S Medical College (erstwhile named Campbell School of Medicine), arguably the largest medical college and hospital in Asia, in the year 2000. Following MD, he pursued his Doctorate in Medicine (D.M.) in the super specialty of Diabetes & Endocrinology from India's Premier Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (I.P.G.M.E.R.), Kolkata, and was conferred the title of the youngest endocrinologist in India in the year 2004. He is a National Lifetime Board Member of the Research Society of Diabetes in India (R.S.S.D.I) and the Endocrine Society of India (E.S.I). He is serving as an Adaptation Editor of Williams Textbook of Endocrinology, South Asian Edition, 2020. He has also contributed a chapter on "Diabetes in South Asia" in Williams Textbook of Endocrinology, South Asian Edition, 2020. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor at Elsevier (Diabetes & Metabolism: Clinical Research and Review), Springer Nature (International Journal of Diabetes in Developing Countries); Deputy Editor at Via Medica (Clinical Diabetology); and Executive Editor of Elsevier Clinical Keys/India Point of Care in Diabetes & Endocrinology. He has published over 190 papers in high-impact international journals with more than 14000 citations and an h-index of 49. He has delivered over 2,000 lectures worldwide. He is ranked in the top 2% of scientists worldwide by Stanford University in the field of Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology.
