Professor Alexandru Corlăteanu is a distinguished medical academic and researcher specializing in respiratory medicine. He serves as the head of the Discipline of Pulmonology and Allergology within the Department of Internal Medicine at the Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) in Chișinău, Moldova. Dr. Corlăteanu earned his Doctor Habilitat in Medical Sciences in 2019, defending a thesis titled “Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in a Multidimensional Approach,” which underscores his expertise in COPD research . He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles and several book chapters, contributing significantly to the field of respiratory medicine. Beyond academia, he holds prominent roles in international health organizations. He is the National Leader for Moldova in the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) and a member of the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) Assembly for Moldova. Additionally, he has served as the National Delegate of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) for Moldova and also developed first junior organization of European Respiratory Society. Doctor Alexandru Corlateanu in 2024 organized non governmental organization Coalition for Lung Health from Republic of Moldova. Its new organization but with multiple activities in the field. Dr. Corlăteanu's editorial contributions include roles as Assistant Editor for Current Respiratory Medicine Reviews and Associate Editor for COPD Research and Practice and Folia Medica. He is an active peer reviewer for multiple journals. His dedication to medical education and research has been recognized through various awards, including the title of “Professor of the Year 2023” at USMF . Dr. Corlăteanu has also played a pivotal role in academic administration, having served as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine No.1 at USMF from 2011 to 2016 . His leadership extended to coordinating research collaborations and overseeing the admission commission, reflecting his dedication to medical education and institutional development. His research interests encompass a broad spectrum of respiratory conditions, with a particular focus on COPD, asthma, and sleep apnea. Dr. Corlăteanu continues to influence both national and international respiratory medicine through his clinical practice, research, and participation in global health initiatives.
