Sherien M El-Daly, PhD, is a Professor of Medical Biochemistry at the National Research Centre (Cairo, Egypt), where she serves as a lead researcher in the Medical Research and Clinical Studies Institute and co-deputy head of the Cancer Biology and Genetics Laboratory at the Centre of Excellence for Advanced Sciences. She specializes in elucidating the molecular mechanisms of non-coding RNAs in cancer pathogenesis, evaluating their clinical utility as non-invasive liquid biopsy biomarkers, and validating them as novel therapeutic targets. Her research primarily focuses on solid tumors like lung, breast, and colorectal cancers, distinguishing her work through an experimental medicine approach that bridges the gap between understanding basic disease mechanisms and developing targeted diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Professor El-Daly has achieved significant recognition in her field, having authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, including Nature Reviews Drug Discovery, PNAS, Cancer Cell International, and the World Journal of Experimental Medicine, holding an h-index of 20 with over 2,200 citations. Her research excellence has been honored with the State Encouragement Award in Biological Sciences (2021) and the National Research Centre Award in Cancer Research (2022). She is an active member of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and serves as an Ambassador for the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR).
