My name is Yantao Tian, MD, PhD, and I currently serve as the Director of the Department of Pancreatic and Gastric Surgery at the National Cancer Center/Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, where I hold the position of Chief Physician and Postdoctoral Supervisor. I have devoted my career to advancing the understanding and treatment of gastric cancer through both basic and clinical research, with the overarching aim of elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying gastric carcinogenesis and developing optimal therapeutic strategies to improve patient outcomes. My academic influence stems from the integration of translational research with surgical innovation, and what differentiates me is my commitment to bridging cutting-edge laboratory discoveries with evidence-based clinical practice in gastrointestinal oncology. Over the years, I have published numerous peer-reviewed articles in high-impact international journals, including Nature Communications, Gastric Cancer, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. As first author or corresponding author, I have contributed significantly to the global academic discourse on gastric cancer. My work has been cited widely, reflecting its recognition and relevance in the field, and I have presented at multiple international conferences. In addition, I actively contribute to academic development as a member of professional societies and by participating in international collaborations in surgical oncology. Beyond authorship, I have made substantial contributions to the scholarly community through extensive peer review, having evaluated approximately 100 manuscripts for leading scientific journals. I have also written editorial pieces to help shape academic dialogue in oncology research and clinical care. These efforts demonstrate my dedication not only to producing impactful research but also to ensuring the integrity and advancement of scientific publishing. Looking forward, my professional goals remain centered on the comprehensive investigation of gastric and pancreatic cancers. I aim to continue fostering innovations in surgical treatment and multimodal therapy, while simultaneously mentoring the next generation of physician-scientists. My long-term research priorities include exploring tumor biology, refining minimally invasive surgical techniques, and advancing individualized treatment strategies to improve survival and quality of life for cancer patients. My professional expertise spans a wide spectrum, including advanced surgical management of gastric and pancreatic cancers, multidisciplinary treatment planning, and translational research. I am recognized for my leadership and mentoring skills, guiding clinical teams and young researchers alike. My ability to communicate effectively, solve complex clinical problems, and integrate evidence-based approaches into daily practice reflects strong interpersonal and management skills that strengthen both my academic and clinical work. Outside of my professional responsibilities, I maintain a balanced lifestyle by engaging in reading, traveling, and outdoor activities, which not only broaden my perspective but also provide inspiration and energy for my clinical and academic pursuits.
