Ankur Varma, MD, MPH, is an associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology Oncology, Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. His clinical interests include bone marrow transplantation, specifically, its infectious complications. His other interests are CAR T-cell therapy, , acute leukemias, multiple myeloma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and myelodysplastic syndromes. Varma has several papers published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and continues to serve as a reviewer in many of the journals. Varma’s research interests include methods to improve the outcomes of bone marrow transplants and finding new ways to minimize the complications of allogeneic transplants. He was instrumental in discovering the new syndrome Idiopathic Portal Hypertension Related Refractory Ascites as a complication of allogeneic stem cell transplant. Varma is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of many societies, including American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy.
