A sharp decrease in alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels occurred right after para-toluenesulfonamide (PTS) injections. The initial series of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) failed to control the tumor (although the TACE’s effect on fistula embolization was irreplaceable). PTS treatment appeared to be effective and well-tolerated. A 4-year follow-up showed no sign of reoccurrence.
