Figure 1
Figure 1 Study flow diagram. The patients were identified from two sources: (1) The pathological database, searched using poorly cohesive carcinoma (PCC)-related keywords; and (2) The departmental follow-up registration system for non-PCC cases. PCC was further classified into signet ring cell carcinoma (SRC) (≥ 90%), mixed SRC/PCC-not otherwise specified (NOS) (10% < SRC < 90%), and PCC-NOS (≤ 10%). Cross-validation was used to ensure that no PCC cases were wrongly classified as non-PCC cases. PCC: Poorly cohesive carcinoma; SRC: Signet ring cell carcinoma; NOS: Not otherwise specified.
Figure 2
Figure 2 Overall survival. A: Overall survival (OS) of poorly cohesive carcinoma (PCC) and non-poorly cohesive carcinoma (non-PCC); B: OS of PCC and non-PCC after propensity score matching (PSM); C: OS of defined subtypes within PCC. Kaplan-Meier curves for the three subtypes of poorly cohesive carcinoma: Signet ring cell carcinoma (SRC), mixed SRC and poorly cohesive carcinoma-not otherwise specified (SRC/PCC-NOS), and pure PCC-NOS; D: OS of defined subtypes within PCC after PSM. PCC: Poorly cohesive carcinoma; PSM: Propensity score matching; SRC: Signet ring cell carcinoma; PCC-NOS: Poorly cohesive carcinoma-not otherwise specified.

Figure 3 Univariable and multivariable hazard ratios of defined subgroups within poorly cohesive carcinoma. HR: Hazard ratio; CI: Confidence interval; SRC: Signet ring cell carcinoma; PCC-NOS: Poorly cohesive carcinoma-not otherwise specified.
