Figure 1 Patients with postoperative mortality had lower platelet counts than those without (the Mann-Whitney test, P = 0. 003). The platelet counts were 8.9 ± 7.5 × 104/μL (mean±SD) in patients with postoperative mortality, whereas they were 15.4 ± 7.0 × 104/μL (mean±SD) in those without postoperative mortality. 1This patients howed a platelet count of 25.7 × 104/μL and died of tumor progression, and not of postoperative morbidity, during the hospital stay.
