Jak/Stat signaling cascade is activated by ciliary neurotrophic factor and other factors, generating phosphorylated STAT3 intermediates, which turn on glial fibrillary acidic protein promoter gene to induce gliosis. CNTF: Cliary neurotrophic factor; GFAP: Glial fibrillary acidic protein.
