Islam allows for polygamy under conditions of justice and ability. However, many doubt the ability to engage in polygamy for fear of unexpected and substantially challenging consequences in the future. To help individuals understand themselves, the polygamy anxiety scale (PAS) was developed. This study aimed to collect items referring to the PAS from previous theoretical literature. The items were evaluated by experts (N = 21) and were shortened to 33 items. Two different types of samples were obtained. The first sample (N = 427) was used to verify the validity of the exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The results revealed that four factors explained 71% of the total variance. The items were distributed according to financial, family, physical, and personal factors (28 items). The second sample (N = 389) was used to verify the CFA, convergent validity, and reliability. In addition, four factors were confirmed using CFA. This result was consistent with the standard. Additionally, the results revealed that all correlations between the PAS score and future marriage anxiety, general anxiety, self-esteem and marital adjustment were statistically significant. Cronbach's alpha values for the four factors ranged between 0.86 and 0.79, and the total score was 0.90. Finally, the correlations between the PAS scores and the four factors were statistically significant. The study concluded that PAS is suitable for Muslims who desire polygamy and can be used to enhance mental health and protect families, children, and wives.

The psychiatric intake interview is crucial for the delivery of quality care. Currently, the interview in most public clinics varies in nature. It often consists of a clinical face-to-face interview (structured/unstructured) with or without self-report questionnaires (systematic/non-systematic). By integrating structured computerized self-report questionnaires into the intake, the assessment process could be shortened, and diagnostic accuracy increased.

The study aims to assess whether adding structured computerized questionnaires will increase the efficacy of the intake process, as indicates by shortened intakes and a higher level of diagnostic accuracy, for children and adolescents in mental health clinics in Israel.

Patients (M_age = 8.62, SD_age = 1.86; 33.8% females) referred to the youth mental health clinic of Maccabi HaSharon district, were included in either the CIA group (Comprehensive Intake Assessment - with questionnaires) or IAU group (Intake as Usual - without questionnaires).

In terms of accuracy and time measurements, the CIA group had higher diagnostic accuracy and a shorter intake duration of 6.63 min, almost 15% of an intake meeting, compared to the IAU group. No differences were found in satisfaction and therapeutic alliance between the groups.

More accurate diagnosis is essential to tailor the appropriate treatment for the child's needs. Moreover, reducing intake time by a few minutes contributes significantly to the ongoing activities of mental health clinics. With this reduction, more intakes can be scheduled at a given time, optimizing the intake process, and reducing long wait times, which are increasing due to the growing demand for psychotherapeutic and psychiatric care.

Over the last two decades, there has been significant growth in public, political, and academic awareness of polygamy. Polygamous families have distinct household problems, usually stemming from jealousy between co-wives over the husband's affections and resources. This study aimed to ascertain the psychological impact of polygamous marriage on women and children worldwide.

A systematic search was performed in MEDLINE (PubMed), Scopus, CINAHL (EBSCOhost), Google Scholar, and ProQuest using search terms such as "marriage" and "polygamy." Studies published from the inception of the respective databases until April 2021 were retrieved to assess their eligibility for inclusion in this study. The Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist was used for data extraction and the quality assessment of the included studies. The generic inverse variance and odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated using RevMan software.

There were 24 studies fulfilling the eligibility criteria, and 23 studies had a low risk of bias. The pooled meta-analysis showed women in polygamous marriages had a 2.25 (95% CI: 1.20, 4.20) higher chance of experiencing depression than in monogamous marriages. Children with polygamous parents had a significantly higher Global Severity Index with a mean difference of 0.21 (95% CI: 0.10, 0.33) than those with monogamous parents.

The psychological impact of polygamous marriage on women and children was found to be relatively higher than monogamous marriage. Awareness of the proper practices for polygamy should be strengthened so that its adverse effects can be minimized. The agencies involved in polygamous practices should broaden and enhance their understanding of the correct practice of polygamy.
