Abstract
BACKGROUND Acute kidney injury (AKI) and sepsis are critical clinical conditions associated with high morbidity and mortality. Despite growing research interest, there remains a need for a comprehensive analysis of global research trends in this field. Bibliometric analysis offers a quantitative approach to assessing the evolution of scientific knowledge, collaborative networks, and emerging research areas over time. OBJECTIVE This study aims to map the global landscape of research on AKI and sepsis over the last two decades (2004-2024), identify major contributors, collaboration networks, key research trends, and highlight gaps in the literature. METHODS We conducted a bibliometric analysis of research articles from leading databases. The study utilized network visualization techniques to assess co-authorship, citation patterns, and keyword co-occurrence, focusing on the most influential countries, institutions, and research collaborations. RESULTS Results reveal China leads in publication volume, yet countries like the United States and Australia show higher international collaboration rates and citation impact. Additionally, thematic analyses highlight critical research areas, including biomarkers, bioenergetics, inflammation, and machine learning, marking significant advancements in the understanding and management of AKI. CONCLUSION This bibliometric analysis offers valuable insights into the evolving landscape of AKI and sepsis research, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to address knowledge gaps and ensure evidence-based care across diverse healthcare settings. Future research should prioritize the development of biomarkers and the integration of AI-driven technologies to enhance early diagnosis and personalize treatment strategies for AKI patients.

Abstract
Programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) inhibitors and programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitors are considered effective alternatives for the primary treatment of recurrent metastatic cancers. However, they can induce various adverse events affecting multiple organ systems, potentially diminishing patients' quality of life, and even leading to treatment interruptions. Adverse events related to PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors differ from those associated with CTLA-4 inhibitors and are more commonly observed in the treatment of solid tumors. This study aimed to address the knowledge gap regarding adverse events related to PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors. A visual bibliometric network was constructed using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, R software, and the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) to quantitatively analyze this research field. Future research directions were also explored. The USA ranked first in publication count and total citations. Over time, publication types transitioned from case reports to clinical trials. Research on for nivolumab was the most prevalent. The spectrum of cancers treated by PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors expanded beyond melanoma and lung cancer to include renal cell carcinoma, esophageal cancer, and others. Common adverse events included pneumonitis, myasthenia gravis, and vitiligo. There was a significant increase in multi-phase clinical trials and studies related to biomarkers. This study offers valuable insights for potential collaborators and institutions, highlighting trends in the study of adverse events related to PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors. The management of these adverse events has become more refined and standardized. Biomarker research and multi-phase clinical trials are likely to be key areas of focus in future studies.

Abstract
Immunity has vital research value and promising applications in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Nevertheless, few bibliometric analyses have systematically investigated this area. This study aimed to comprehensively review the collaboration and impact of countries, institutions, authors, and journals on the role of immunity in TNBC from a bibliometric perspective, evaluate the keyword co-occurrence of the knowledge structure, and identify hot trends and emerging topics. Articles and reviews related to immunity in TNBC were retrieved from the Web of Science core collection using subject search. A bibliometric study was conducted primarily using CiteSpace and VOSviewer. A total of 3,104 articles and reviews were included from January 1, 2014, through December 31, 2024. The number of articles on immunization in TNBC is rising. These publications are mainly from 415 institutions in 82 countries, led by China and the USA. Among these publications, Lajos Pusztai published the most papers, while Peter Schmid was co-cited the most. The most productive journals focused on molecular biology, biological immunology, and clinical medicine. Furthermore, co-citation analysis revealed that tumor microenvironment, biomarkers, and immune checkpoint inhibitors are current and developing research areas. The keywords "immunotherapy" and "nanoparticles" are also likely to be new trends and focal points for future research. This study adopted bibliometric and visualization methods to provide a comprehensive review of the research on immunization in TNBC. This article will help researchers better understand the dynamic evolution of the role of immunity in TNBC and identify areas for future research.

Abstract
Cancer seriously threatens the lives and health of people worldwide, and exosomes seem to play an important role in managing cancer effectively, which has attracted extensive attention from researchers in recent years. This study aimed to scientifically visualize exosomes research in cancer (ERC) through bibliometric analysis, reviewing the past, summarizing the present, and predicting the future, with a view to providing valuable insights for scholars and policy makers. Researches search and data collection from Web of Science Core Collection and clinical trial.gov. Calculations and visualizations were performed using Microsoft Excel, VOSviewer, Bibliometrix R-package, and CiteSpace. As of December 1, 2024, and March 8, 2025, we identified 8,001 ERC-related publications and 107 ERC-related clinical trials, with an increasing trend in annual publications. Our findings supported that China, Nanjing Medical University, and International Journal of Molecular Sciences were the most productive countries, institutions, and journals, respectively. Whiteside, Theresa L. had the most publications, while Théry, C was the most co-cited scholar. In addition, Cancer Research was the most co-cited journal. Spatial and temporal distribution of clinical trials was the same as for publications. High-frequency keywords were "extracellular vesicle," "microRNA" and "biomarker." Additional, "surface functionalization," "plant," "machine learning," "nanomaterials," "promotes metastasis," "engineered exosomes," and "macrophage-derived exosomes" were promising research topics. Our study comprehensively and visually summarized the structure, hotspots, and evolutionary trends of ERC. It would inspire subsequent studies from a macroscopic perspective and provide a basis for rational allocation of resources and identification of collaborations among researchers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Artificial intelligence (AI) has become significantly integrated into healthcare, particularly in the diagnosing of neurological disorders. This advancement has enabled neurologists and physicians to diagnose conditions more quickly and effectively, ultimately benefiting patients.
AIM To explore the current status and key highlights of AI-related articles in diagnosing of neurological disorders.
METHODS A systematic literature review was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection database using the following strategy: TS = ("Artificial Intelligence" OR "Computational Intelligence" OR "Machine Learning" OR "AI") AND TS = ("Neurological disorders" OR "CNS disorder" AND "diagnosis"). The search was limited to articles and reviews. Microsoft Excel 2019 and VOSviewer were utilized to identify major contributors, including authors, institutions, countries, and journals. Additionally, VOSviewer was employed to analyze and visualize current trends and hot topics through network visualization maps.
RESULTS A total of 276 publications from 2000 to 2024 were retrieved. The United States, India, and China emerged as the top contributors in this field. Major institutions included Johns Hopkins University, King's College London, and Harvard Medical School. The most prolific author was U. Rajendra Acharya from the University of Southern Queensland (Australia). Among journals, IEEE Access, Scientific Reports, and Sensors were the most productive, while Frontiers in Neuroscience led in total citations. Central topics in AI-related articles on neurological disorders diagnosis included Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, dementia, epilepsy, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and their intersections with deep learning and AI.
CONCLUSION Research on AI's role in diagnosing neurological disorders is becoming widely recognized for its growing importance. AI shows promise in diagnosing various neurological disorders, yet requires further improvement and extensive future research.

Abstract
Introduction Hip disease is a global public health issue, associated with high morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Although research on proximal femoral trabeculae has been conducted for over a century, no bibliometric analysis has been carried out. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the existing research landscape, identify emerging trends, and offer insights for future studies. Method The scientific output related to the trabeculae within the human proximal femur from 2004 to 2023 was sourced from the Web of Science Core Collection. Moreover, both the annual publications and cumulative totals over this period were summarized in Excel. The VOS viewer was utilized to analyze co-authorship and co-citation relationship between authors, institutions, countries, references and journals. CiteSpace was used to cluster the keywords and research frontiers in this field. Results A total of 365 publications were extracted, with the USA emerging as the primary contributor to this field, accounting for 133 publications with 5807 total citations, averaging 43.7 citations per publication. The Journal of Bone and Mineral Research has been identified as the most co-cited journal with a total of 1742 citations. The journals can be categorized into 5 distinct clusters, including medical imaging, orthopedic clinical research, research on endocrine and metabolic related diseases, human evolution and anatomy related research, biomechanics and modeling. The keyword with the highest co-occurrence frequency is "bone mineral density". The keywords were stratified into six clusters, including DXA, bone remodeling, diagnosis, titanium alloy bionic cannulated screws, individual trabecula segmentation, and QCT. More recently, the focus has expanded to three-dimensional modeling, falls, microarchitecture, and avascular necrosis. Conclusions Evaluation of proximal femoral strength can be improved by combining structural parameters with bone mineral density by DXA or QCT. Three-dimensional analysis, microarchitecture, and bionic implants are emerging as significant areas of focus and trends for future research.

Abstract
Background Heart transplantation (HT) remains the most effective long-term treatment for end-stage heart failure (HF). As the field continues to evolve, bibliometric analysis offers insights into historical developments and emerging trends. Methods A comprehensive bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC), covering HT-related publications from 1975 to 2023. Extracted data included publication year, type, citation metrics, contributing countries and institutions, journals, authors, keywords, and references. Results A total of 8414 publications were retrieved, comprising 6356 original articles and 1018 reviews. Global research output steadily increased over the study period. The United States led in publication volume and citations, with significant contributions from institutions in Europe and Asia. Core journals and prolific authors were identified, highlighting the academic landscape. Research hotspots included clinical immunosuppressive therapy, ventricular assist device (VAD) technology, and donor allocation strategies. Conclusions The field of HT for HF has experienced substantial growth, with continued focus on immunosuppression, mechanical circulatory support, and organ allocation. These areas are likely to remain central in future research, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve patient outcomes and expand transplant accessibility.

Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus, characterized by insufficient insulin secretion, pancreatic beta cell damage, or insulin resistance, is the third most prevalent chronic metabolic disease worldwide. Polysaccharides, biocompatible natural macromolecules, have garnered significant attention for their potential in modulating diabetes through various mechanisms. Despite extensive studies, a comprehensive and impartial evaluation of anti-diabetic polysaccharides (ATDPs) research is still lacking. This study employs bibliometric and knowledge mapping techniques to analyze research trends and developments concerning ATDPs. A total of 3435 publications from 2001 to 2024 were examined, revealing a marked increase in publication volume and citation frequency, particularly since 2016. Network analysis indicates China as the leading contributor, with the highest number of publications and prominent institutions. The International Journal of Biological Macromolecules is identified as the most prolific journal in this field. Shaoping Nie stands out as a leading researcher with the highest citation frequency and h-index. Current research trends focus on the role of polysaccharides in regulating oxidative stress and inflammation, modulation of gut microbiota, and their structural characterization. Emerging studies investigate how these polysaccharides impact gut microbiota composition, enhance intestinal barrier functions, and modulate immune responses, representing cutting-edge areas in diabetes research. This research pioneers the use of bibliometric analysis to map ATDPs research trajectories, offering valuable insights into prevailing trends, emerging topics, and opportunities for future research and collaboration.

Abstract
Mechanobiology is essential for cardiovascular structure and function and regulates the normal physiological and pathological processes of the cardiovascular system. Cells in the cardiovascular system are extremely sensitive to their mechanical environment, and once mechanical stimulation is abnormal, the homeostasis mechanism is damaged or lost, leading to the occurrence of pathological remodeling diseases. In the past 20 years, many articles concerning the mechanobiology of cardiovascular homeostasis and remodeling have been published. To better understand the current development status, research hotspots and future development trends in the field, this paper uses CiteSpace software for bibliometric analysis, quantifies and visualizes the articles published in this field in the past 20 years, and reviews the research hotspots and emerging trends. The regulatory effects of mechanical stimulation on the biological behavior of endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells and the extracellular matrix, as well as the mechanical-related remodeling mechanism in heart failure, have always been research hotspots in this field. This paper reviews the research advances of these research hotspots in detail. This paper also introduces the research status of emerging hotspots, such as those related to cardiac fibrosis, homeostasis, mechanosensitive transcription factors and mechanosensitive ion channels. We hope to provide a systematic framework and new ideas for follow-up research on mechanobiology in the field of cardiovascular homeostasis and remodeling and promote the discovery of more therapeutic targets and novel markers of mechanobiology in the cardiovascular system.

Abstract
The interaction between mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum is mediated by mitochondria-associated endoplasmic reticulum membranes (MAMs), which play a crucial role in regulating intracellular signal transduction and molecular interactions. This study employs bibliometric analysis to examine the research progress on MAMS and identify research hotspots and trends. A total of 1406 publications on MAMs were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection. Software such as CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Scimago Graphica were utilized in the bibliometric analysis process. This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of over 20 years of MAM research, identifying the countries, institutions, authors, journals, and publications involved in the field. The number of publications on MAMs has been increasing annually since 2010, exhibiting a steady upward trend. The main contributors to this field are the USA, China, and Italy, with the journal Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology publishing the most publications. Common keywords include "endoplasmic reticulum stress," "Ca2 + ," "mitofusin2," "oxidative stress," "apoptosis," "autophagy," and "Alzheimer's disease." We found that the role of MAMs in neurodegenerative diseases has aroused great interest among researchers. The associations between calcium homeostasis, autophagy, mitochondrial dysfunction, and cell death with MAMs are also considered research hotspots and show broad research prospects. In addition, changes in MAM-resident proteins, including the mitochondria-ER tethering complex, Mfn2, and Sig-1R, have been highlighted as prominent research directions. The findings provide a comprehensive overview of research on MAMs and valuable insights for researchers, which is helpful for exploring future directions and trends in this field.

Abstract
Medical ozone is a molecule composed of three oxygen atoms with anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antioxidant functions. Ozone therapy (O 3 or O 2 - O 3 ) for knee osteoarthritis has gradually received increasing attention from researchers in recent years. Here, we discuss the research hotspots and development trends of ozone therapy for knee osteoarthritis through literature visualization and analysis. (1) From 2012 to the present, the overall trend of publications on ozone treatment for knee osteoarthritis has been increasing annually, and it has received widespread attention, especially in Iran and China. (2) Keyword analysis revealed that the keywords with the greatest number of citations for ozone treatment of knee osteoarthritis are "osteoarthritis," "ozone," "knee osteoarthritis," "ozone therapy," and "hyaluronic acid." (3) The results of the cocitation analysis revealed that the themes of the cocited literature are concentrated in 11 directions: intra-articular injections, intra-articular oxygen ozone, treatment of knee osteoarthritis, rehabilitation studies, time effects, pain function, comprehensive review, growth factors, rheumatic diseases, ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injections, and placebo. (4) The hotspots of the available highly cited literature have focused mainly on the efficacy and safety of ozone or growth factors alone in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Most of the literature suggests that intra-articular injections are the most common form of ozone therapy, and the accuracy and safety of ozone injections can be ensured using ultrasound-guided techniques. Ozone therapy has a positive short-term effect on pain control and functional recovery within 6 months after injection, but how to maintain the long-term efficacy of ozone therapy has rarely been described. It is hypothesized that the combination of ozone and growth factors may be beneficial for prolonging the efficacy of ozone therapy. (5) Ozone therapy has no advantages over other therapies in terms of therapeutic efficacy. Compared with ozone therapy, platelet-rich plasma and growth factor-rich plasma have better long-term outcomes in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, whereas stromal vascular components have the best effects on pain relief and functional improvement. Few studies address the combination of ozone and growth factors for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, and a few clinical studies registered have explored other treatments (e.g., corticosteroids). (6) Future studies could further explore the specific mechanisms and optimal dosing regimens of ozone combined with different growth factors in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis to compensate for the short-term efficacy of ozone therapy and to validate the long-term efficacy and safety of this combination therapy. It is also imperative to develop international guidelines for ozone therapy for osteoarthritis of the knee as soon as possible.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular diseases caused by atherosclerosis (AS) are the leading causes of disability and death worldwide. Apolipoprotein B (ApoB), the core protein of low-density lipoproteins, is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease-related morbidity and mortality, with apolipoprotein B (ApoB) playing a critical role in its pathogenesis. However, no bibliometric studies on the involvement of ApoB in AS have been published. This study aimed to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to explore the current and future trends regarding the role of ApoB in AS. METHODS Utilizing the Web of Science Core Collection, a thorough search was conducted for ApoB in AS-related papers related to research on ApoB in the field of AS during 1991-2023. The analysis focused on annual publication trends, leading countries/regions and institutions, influential authors, journal and key journals. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were employed to visualize reference co-citations, and keyword co-occurrences, offering insights into the research landscape and emerging trends. RESULTS This bibliometric analysis employed network diagrams for cluster analysis of a total of 2105 articles and reviews, evidencing a discernible upward trend in annual publication volume. This corpus of research emanates from 76 countries/regions and 2343 organizations, illustrating the widespread international engagement in ApoB-related AS studies. Notably, the United States and the University of California emerge as the most prolific contributors, which underscores their pivotal roles in advancing this research domain. The thematic investigation has increasingly focused on elucidating the mechanistic involvement of ApoB in atherosclerosis, its potential as a diagnostic biomarker, and its implications for therapeutic strategies. CONCLUSION This bibliometric analysis provides the first comprehensive perspective on the evolving promise of ApoB in AS-related research, emphasizing the importance of this molecule in opening up new diagnostic and therapeutic avenues. This study emphasizes the need for continued research and interdisciplinary efforts to strengthen the fight against AS. Furthermore, it emphasizes the critical role of international collaboration and interdisciplinary exploration in leveraging new insights to achieve clinical breakthroughs, thereby addressing the complexities of AS by focusing on ApoB.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In recent years, the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) in hepatobiliary surgery research has led to an increase in articles exploring its benefits. We performed a bibliometric analysis of AI applications in hepatobiliary surgery to better delineate the contemporary state of AI application in hepatobiliary surgery and potential future trajectories.
AIM To provide clinical practitioners with a reliable reference point. It offers a detailed overview of the development of AI in hepatobiliary surgery by systematically examining the contributions of authors, countries, institutions, journals, and keywords in this domain over the last 10 years.
METHODS The academic resources utilized in this study were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The search results were subsequently integrated and imported into CiteSpace and VOSviewer software for the purpose of visual analysis.
RESULTS The study analyzed 2552 publications during 2014–2024. These publications collectively garnered 32 628 citations, averaging 15.66 citations per paper. The top contributor to this field was China. The USA had the highest citation count. The author with the highest citation count was Summers RM. In terms of the number of articles published, the leading journals were Medical Physics. Excluding the subject search terms, the most frequently used keywords included “classification”, “CT and “diagnosis”.
CONCLUSION This bibliometric analysis indicates that research on AI in hepatobiliary surgery has entered a period of rapid development, particularly in the domain of disease imaging diagnostics.

Abstract
Purpose This study systematically analyzed available literature related to fragment-based drug design (FBDD) published between 2015 and 2024 using bibliometric methods to identify research trends, hotspots, and emerging frontiers. The findings provide valuable information and a comprehensive reference for future FBDD research and drug development. Methods The relevant literature was comprehensively searched from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database using the keywords "Fragment-based drug design" or "FBDD", covering articles published between January 1, 2015 and November 1, 2024. A total of 1,301 papers were included. Bibliometric analysis and knowledge mapping were conducted using the RStudio's bibliometrix-biblioshiny package, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer software, assessing multiple dimensions such as journal co-occurrence, keyword density, institutional collaboration, and citation patterns. Results The research output in FBDD revealed fluctuating growth, with an average annual growth rate of 1.42%. The United States and China lead global research with 889 and 719 publications, respectively, contributing significantly to international collaboration (34.82%). Prominent research institutions included the Center National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), the University of Cambridge, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, demonstrating strong academic influence. Key contributors such as Abell, C. Blundell, TL, and Johnson, CN, were among the top ten high-impact authors, significantly shaping the FBDD landscape through highly cited publications. Influential journals included the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling, and the European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, each highly recognized within the FBDD research community. Keyword analysis indicated core research directions focused on "fragment-based drug discovery", "molecular docking", and "drug discovery", reflecting key technological advancements and research hotspots. Conclusion FBDD remains a dynamic field with ongoing global academic attention. Future research directions are likely to emphasize innovations in computational simulation, targeted drug screening, and molecular docking techniques, facilitating the advancement and development of novel therapeutic agents.

Abstract
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a multifactorial retinal disease influenced by complex molecular mechanisms, including genetic susceptibility, inflammation, oxidative stress, and metabolic dysregulation. While substantial progress has been made in understanding its pathogenesis, the full molecular underpinnings of AMD remain unclear, impeding the effectiveness of current therapeutic strategies. This study provides an in-depth exploration of the molecular interactions involved in AMD progression, particularly focusing on genetic predispositions (such as CFH, ARMS2/HTRA1, and APOE), inflammatory pathways (including complement system dysregulation and cytokine responses), lipid metabolism (e.g., cholesterol homeostasis and drusen formation), and angiogenesis (VEGF signaling). Through a systematic review and bibliometric analysis of literature published between 2015 and 2025, the study identifies emerging research trends, existing gaps, and promising future therapeutic directions. It further investigates innovative precision medicine approaches, including gene editing (CRISPR), RNA therapeutics (siRNA, antisense oligonucleotides), immunomodulatory therapies, and nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems. Additionally, the study examines the role of metabolic disorders such as diabetes and dyslipidemia in AMD progression, highlighting the influence of systemic health factors on disease onset. Finally, the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing AMD management through biomarker-based risk stratification, predictive modeling, and personalized treatment optimization is assessed. By mapping the intricate molecular networks underlying AMD and evaluating novel therapeutic strategies, this research aims to contribute to the development of more effective, individualized treatment protocols for patients with AMD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common malignant tumor globally and in China, and its incidence and mortality rate are increasing year by year, and it faces many challenges and difficulties in treatment. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have important roles in cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation, and have now become important drugs for cancer treatment. There are no bibliometric studies on liver cancer and TKIs to date. METHODS We retrieved 2848 records from the Web of Science™ Core Collection (WoSCC) database and analyzed them scientifically and metrically using CiteSpace and VOSviewer in terms of temporal and spatial distributions, author distributions, journal distributions, references, and keywords. RESULTS From January 1, 2004, to December 31, 2023, the WoSCC database documented 2848 publications related to tyrosinase inhibitors in HCC, comprising 2151 articles and 697 reviews. This literature involved 80 countries and regions, 3265 institutions, and 16,653 authors. Analysis shows a steady increase in publications annually since 2004, divided into 3 phases: 2004 to 2010 with fewer than 100 papers annually, suggesting minimal research attention; 2011 to 2019 with gradual growth, indicating increasing research interest; and a rapid surge post-2020, peaking in 2023, signaling heightened global interest in this field. CONCLUSION Our bibliometric analysis on TKIs and HCC spans years, countries, institutions, authors, disciplines, and journals. Since 2004, this field has gained attention, with current research focusing on inflammatory and immune mechanisms, associated diseases, cytokines, and TKIs' applications in liver cancer treatment, including combination therapies. These areas signify emerging research directions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Targeted therapy has significantly transformed the treatment landscape of colorectal cancer (CRC), enabling personalized treatment approaches and improving patient prognosis. This study employs bibliometric analysis to explore the research hotspots and development trends in the field of CRC-targeted therapy from 2000 to 2023. METHODS Based on the Web of Science Core Collection, this study collected literature related to CRC-targeted therapy published between 2000 and 2023. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used for data analysis, with a focus on publication trends, key contributors, and keyword co-occurrence patterns. RESULTS A total of 2252 relevant articles were included, demonstrating a steady growth trend in research output. China ranked first in terms of the number of publications, while the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center was identified as the institution with the highest research output. Josep Tabernero was the most prolific author in this field. Among journals, Cancers had the highest impact, while Clinical Cancer Research held a significant advantage in citation frequency. Keyword co-occurrence and clustering analysis indicated that research primarily focused on treatment strategies and precision medicine, with emerging technologies such as cell therapy and liquid biopsy garnering increasing attention. CONCLUSION This study reveals the research trends, core hotspots, and emerging directions in the field of CRC-targeted therapy, providing valuable insights for future research.

Abstract
Objective Causal inference in clinical medicine provides scientific evidence for precision medicine and individualized treatment by revealing the true associations between interventions and health outcomes. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to identify current research trends, primary themes, and future directions for the application of causal inference in clinical medicine. Methods We conducted a literature search in the Web of Science database using causal inference and medical terminology as subject keywords, covering the period from January 1986 to December 2024. After screening, we obtained 4,316 documents for analysis. Utilizing CiteSpace to generate network diagrams, we analyzed data related to the number of publications, citation analysis, collaboration relationships, keyword co-occurrence, and highlighted terms to illustrate the knowledge map and collaboration network in this field. Results Publications on medical causal inference shows a fluctuating growth trend over time. The United States was the top contributors to this field. Harvard University is the leading research institution. George David Smith is the most prolific author, Robbins JM is the most cited scholar. The major research hotspots concentrated in fields such as epidemiology, coronary heart disease and health. Notably, marginal structural models, counterfactual forecasting, and Mendelian randomization have consistently been key methodologies in research. The burstness of keywords reveals that big data, DNA methylation, and robust estimation are emerging research directions. Conclusion In clinical research, counterfactual forecasting provides prospective guidance for optimizing clinical strategies; Mendelian randomization helps uncover potential therapeutic targets; and marginal structural models enhance the accuracy of causal effect estimation in clinical studies. The future integration of various data sources to improve causal inference methods is anticipated to enhance the sensitivity and specificity of trials, ultimately elucidating the complex mechanisms of diseases and drug effects. The literature retrieve strategy and the metrics of the tools adopted may have a certain impact on the results of this study.

Abstract
Objective A bibliometric approach was employed to systematically analyze the trends and potential future developments in lactic acid-related cancer research over the past 10 years. Method We conducted a bibliometric analysis of literature on lactic acid in cancer research from 2015 to 2024, using data collected from the Web of Science database. A bibliometric analysis was conducted to identify general research directions and trends in current publications, as well as to determine the most prolific and influential authors, institutions, countries, and keywords in lactate and cancer research. The data were collected and analyzed using VOSviewer (Leiden University, Leiden, Netherlands), Microsoft Excel (Microsoft, Redmond, Washington, USA), CiteSpace, and Biblioshiny, with a focus on analysis and visualization. Results A total of 5,999 publications were analyzed, focusing on various aspects of the relevant literature, including year of publication, country, institution, author, journal, category, keywords, and research frontiers. The analysis of these publications reveals a general upward trend in publication volume from 2015 to 2024, with China and University of California System emerging as the most prolific country and institution, respectively. SCIENTIFIC REPORTS is the most frequently published journal, while Oncotarget is the most cited journal in the field. Zhang Y. was the most prolific author, publishing 100 documents over 10 years, with the highest citation count and an H-index of 28.Keyword analysis revealed five key themes in lactate-cancer research (2013-2023): Metabolic-epigenetic crosstalk, Tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment, Innovative therapies/drug delivery, Lactate-mediated signaling, Metabolic-targeted treatment strategies. Current research emphasizes the application of lactic acid metabolism in metabolic intervention, immune microenvironment regulation, combination of new therapeutic techniques and applications in specific cancer types. Conclusion Research on lactic acid in cancer is growing rapidly, with China at the forefront of this field. Research into lactic acid's role in immune cell regulation, metabolism, and signaling pathways, combined with multi-modal imaging, big data analytics, and innovative drug delivery, is set to become a key trend in future studies, which promises new directions for identifying therapeutic targets, biomarkers, and developing advanced treatments.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES As an aromatic aldehyde, Cinnamaldehyde (CAL) is the representative bioactive component of cinnamon, possessing extensive applications in the fields of pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food, and feed. The objective of the present study is to elucidate the state and trends of CAL research via bibliometric and visualized analysis. METHODS Research on CAL was obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection, and knowledge graphs were created employing CiteSpace software. Bibliometric analysis was conducted on 6205 articles published from 1994 to 2023. KEY FINDINGS The findings indicate a steadily growing trend in the quantity of papers published on CAL. The collaborative network visualization analysis has determined that China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Kumar Venkitanarayanan have the highest number of publications among all countries, institutions, and authors, respectively. According to the keyword and cocited reference analysis, the primary research hotspots and frontiers include pharmacological effect, underlying mechanism, chemical structure modification, encapsulation technology, and delivery system, highlighting the cross-disciplinary characteristic of CAL research. CONCLUSIONS This study delineates the research hotspots and trends of CAL. Future research should focus on exploring the pharmacological effects and mechanisms of CAL in more depth, optimizing chemical derivatization methods, and refining stimuli-responsive smart release systems of CAL.

Abstract
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is estimated to impact 693 million individuals globally by 2045. Diabetes remission has the potential to slow disease progression, alleviate psychological burdens, minimize complications, and improve quality of life. We aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis of research on T2DM remission. We searched the Web of Science (WoS) database to identify relevant publications on T2DM remission during 2002 to 2022. Research trends and hotspots in T2DM remission were analyzed using Bibliometrix R and CiteSpace. The analysis considered various factors such as publication year, authors, journal, institution, country/region, themes, thematic evolution, keywords, and keyword bursts. The WoS search yielded 2254 articles. The annual scientific output has consistently increased. Lee was the most prolific author (48 papers). Obesity surgery was the leading journal (296 publications), while diabetes care had the highest h_index (43). The University of Copenhagen was the most active institution (116 papers). The most productive countries were the US (476), China (347), the UK (180), Italy (121), and Japan (90). The top 3 keywords were "bariatric surgery," "weight loss," and "remission." From 2013 to 2015, the usage of the term "medical therapy" significantly surged, lasting for 3 years. The term "GLP-I receptor agonists" also had a lasting burst. In the past 5 years, "weight loss" and "low-calorie diets" have emerged as prominent areas of research. This study analyzed the research trends and key factors in the field of type 2 diabetes mitigation through bibliometrics, providing important data support and a basis for decision-making for future research and public health policies.

Abstract
Isodon rubescens has been used as an herbal medicine in China for a long time. The significant value of development and utilization is affirmative. Bibliometrics is used as an approach to sort out, analyze, and visualize relevant literature in a particular field. So, it can intuitively express the research trends, hot directions, significant achievements, core journals, and outstanding authors in the field. But there is no bibliometrics analysis of I rubescens. The relevant dataset was retrieved and exported from the Web of Science database, and the results were obtained and visualized using the R Programming Language, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer, with the creation of time zone maps also using Scimago Graphica and Gephi. There were 506 valid data retrieved and 465 analyzed data selected. The country with the most significant number of publications is China, the institution with the largest annual publication volume is China Pharmaceutical University, the publication with the most relevant literature is the International Journal of Oncology, and the author with the most publications is Zhou. The keyword with the greatest intensity is "matastasis," which is also an emerging keyword. The role of I rubescens has been continuously diversifying. It has been proven to play a role in treating major diseases such as multiple cancers, leukemia, liver and kidney function impairment, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. This study will highlight the main research direction in this field, namely the use of I rubescens for the treatment of cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Osteoporosis (OP) is the second most detrimental chronic disease, and thus novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are needed. In recent years, there has been an increased emphasis on the utilization of gut microbiota (GM) in the context of OP. However, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis on this subject is currently lacking. Furthermore, a deeper exploration of the role of GM in bone health is imperative, and there is a pressing need to foster international and inter-agency exchange and experience in this field. Accordingly, this study aimed to provide an overview of the research trends in this field and propose suggestions for related scientific and technological research and development. METHODS The Web of Science database was searched for articles related to both GM and OP. Statistical analyses and data visualization were performed using the EXCEL and CiteSpace software. RESULTS China exhibited the highest number of publications, followed by the United States. NUTRIENTS and Sichuan University were identified as the journal and institution, respectively, with the highest number of articles. Notably, the keywords "gut microbiota" and "bone loss" have been increasingly used in publications. CONCLUSION In conclusion, this study fills the existing gap in the literature and contributes valuable insights to the understanding of the relationship between GM and OP.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Preterm birth (PTB) before 37 weeks gestation, especially spontaneous premature birth (sPTB), poses significant global health challenges, with rising rates linked to advanced and multiple pregnancies. Despite efforts to understand the pathogenesis and related biomarkers of sPTB, accurate prediction is still difficult to achieve. Recent research in academic journals has focused on sPTB prediction, prompting our bibliometric analysis to understand the current situation and explore the new research direction. METHODS We used keywords in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) to search for articles related to sPTB prediction from 2004 to 2023. Subsequently, we primarily employed three distinct software tools (VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Python) for conducting this bibliometric analysis. RESULTS Focusing on sPTB as the primary subject, a total of 647 papers have been published in 136 academic journals. There are the most publications from The United States (n = 245, 39.26 %), and the University of London contributed the most publications (n = 57, 8.81 %). The American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology is the most productive academic journal on sPTB prediction [n = 74, 11.44 %; impact factor (IF) = 8.7]. Through the co-occurrence and cluster analysis, we found that recent research has focused on is "pamg-1", "uterocervical angle", "twin pregnancy", "quantitative ultrasound", and "lactobacillus iners". CONCLUSION We utilized bibliometric software to perform a comprehensive analysis of the literature concerning sPTB prediction. Broadly, the primary focus of future sPTB prediction lies in the application of novel ultrasound and biological markers, as well as in predicting sPTB in twin pregnancies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In recent years, telesurgery has shown a rapid development trend as an innovative surgical technique, and been applied to the clinical treatment of various tumor diseases. However, the current research on telesurgery is still relatively fragmented, lacking a systematic summary of its development and future directions. Addressing these limitations is crucial for advancing the application of this novel surgical technology. METHODS This bibliometric study of publications related to telesurgery that were indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection from 2000 to 2024. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Bibliometrix were used to analyze and visually represent the gathered data, and the relevant content was presented according to the BIBLIO guidelines. RESULTS We researched 565 publications across 269 journals authored by 2422 individuals affiliated with 917 institutions spanning 62 countries. Notably, the United States leads in the number of publications, with China also making noteworthy contributions. Kyushu University and the University of Washington emerge as prominent institutions in terms of research output within this domain. Analysis of document co-occurrence and co-citation reveals that Jacques Marescaux from France holds the top position globally among authors and wields significant influence in this field. Keyword analysis indicates that key future research directions in this area include mitigating latency issues in telesurgery, integrating advanced network communication technologies, and enhancing the performance of telesurgical robots. Furthermore, ethical and legal issues associated with telesurgery may emerge as critical challenges to be addressed for its further expansion and application. CONCLUSION This research provides an overview of telesurgery research findings, encompassing the evolution of research priorities in telesurgery. The study anticipates that the secure implementation and broader adoption of telesurgery will bring more benefits to patients on a global scale.

Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) survivors are concerned about the likelihood of developing further diseases. This study examines the global trends in scientific research on diabetes associated with COVID-19 from several perspectives. Bibliometric analyses are used to undertake a scientific review of the literature. The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was used to acquire bibliographic information on diabetes related to COVID-19 from Jan 2020 to Dec. 2023. The visual map was built via advanced CiteSpace 6.2.R6. 7,348 papers were found. Khunti Kamlesh and Rizzo-Manfredi are the most well-known high-yield authors in this area, and the top ten authors collaborate extensively. Most of these papers came from universities. Harvard Medical School has the most publications, followed by Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. China and the United States are the countries with the most publications. Angiotensin-converting enzymes, chronic disease, intensive care unit, viral infection, and gestational diabetes mellitus were scored 0-11, 2, 3, and 4, respectively. Zhou et al.'s work on this topic, which appeared in the prominent medical journal The Lancet, was cited 1,366 times, highlighting its importance. "clinical characteristics," "diabetes mellitus," "metabolic syndrome," and "angiotensin-converting enzyme" were used as keywords for reference co-citation and clustering data identify. Over the last four years, related investigations have focused primarily on observing clinical aspects. This report is important for developing treatment strategies, directing future research, and guiding clinical practice.

Abstract
Critical infrastructure systems (CISs) are the cornerstone of modern cities. Substantial economic losses and social impacts are caused once natural disasters or man-made disruptions attack the CISs. As a "resilient city" has become an essential theme of communities' sustainable development, research on resilience and its practice in industries boost the CISs' capacity to respond and adapt to changing environments. From the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection, this study screened 1,247 scientific articles related to resilience in CISs and conducted a bibliometric analysis to investigate the evolution and future potential in this field. Topic visualized networks were constructed for CIS resilience using CiteSpace, a dedicated tool for visualizing and analyzing trends and patterns in scientific literature. The results demonstrate collaborative research networks among countries, institutions, main scholar/group networks, and leading journals publishing CIS resilience work. This study also explained how the research interest evolved over the last 20 years and found the current frontiers pointing to "power systems resilience" and "supply chain resilience." The reasons were discussed subsequently from the perspectives of the influence that natural hazards (based on the EM-DAT data) and government policies have upon CISs' resilience work.

Abstract
Background With the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and the increasing significance of imaging in orthopedics, the application of AI in the field of orthopedic imaging is becoming increasingly extensive. Previous studies show that the application of AI-based orthopedic imaging may break the traditional model of the field. As a result, relevant research has received attention, and numerous articles have been published. Through bibliometric analysis, this study summarized the knowledge structure of AI-based orthopedic imaging and explored its potential research trends and focal points. Methods In this study, literature on AI in the field of orthopedic imaging available in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2024 was analyzed. In order to identify the main research topics and generate visual charts of countries, institutions, authors, and keyword networks, the search results were imported into VOSviewer and CiteSpace. Results A total of 3,147 publications were analyzed, revealing a rapid increase in AI research in orthopedic imaging since 2007, with over 90% of studies published after 2017. The United States (US) and China dominate this field, with the US leading in citations and academic influence, and China demonstrating significant growth in productivity. Institutional analysis highlighted Harvard University and Stanford University as key contributors, reflecting their strong academic influence. Keyword analysis identified three main research focuses: (I) advancements in algorithm development, particularly deep learning (DL) methods such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs); (II) applications in orthopedic disease imaging, including osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and total knee arthroplasty; and (III) innovations in multimodal fusion and three-dimensional (3D) imaging techniques. Emerging trends emphasize integrating imaging data with clinical biomarkers to improve diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic decision-making. These findings provide a comprehensive overview of AI's role in orthopedic imaging, emphasizing areas of high impact and potential future directions for research. Conclusions The research on the application of AI in orthopedic imaging is a hot topic and indicates broad research prospects in the future. However, this study suggests that research teams should strengthen collaboration, especially international cooperation. Based on comprehensive analysis, the development of DL algorithms (especially CNNs), the use of AI in processing image data related to orthopedic diseases (segmentation, classification, and feature map extraction), and the expansion of AI imaging applications in different diseases are expected to become hotspots in future research on the application of AI in orthopedic imaging.

Abstract
Introduction Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a leading cause of cardiovascular-related deaths. Non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) offer effective therapy without injections or blood monitoring. This bibliometric analysis explores the research on NOACs for preventing VTE and pulmonary embolism. Methods Literature up to July 20, 2024, was searched in Web of Science Core Collection. Citespace software was used for screening and analysis. Results In this study, we analyzed 2124 articles and 767 reviews from 11,282 institutions across 528 countries and regions, encompassing 830 publications and 60 research directions. The USA led in publication count, followed by Germany and Canada. Cardiovascular System Cardiology, Hematology, and General Internal Medicine were the top research areas, while THROMBOSIS AND HAEMOSTASIS was the leading journal. From 2004 to 2024, we observed accelerated publication growth, particularly from 2008, highlighting the emergence of NOACs as a major research focus. Key contributors, including Bengt I. Eriksson, and major institutions like Harvard Medical School and University of Amsterdam, played pivotal roles in advancing anticoagulant research. Co-citation and keyword clustering analyses revealed research hotspots in NOACs, cancer-associated venous thromboembolism, stroke prevention, and COVID-19-related thrombotic events, reflecting a shift towards individualized anticoagulation therapy and the growing importance of NOACs in various clinical contexts. Conclusion The development of NOACs has progressed rapidly, with an increasing number of publications, indicating the lead research in the United States and other Western nations. Comparative studies on the safety and efficacy of NOACs have become a significant focus, shifting from traditional anticoagulants. Pharmacogenetics-guided use of NOACS shows new hope of precision medicine.

Abstract
Purpose The purpose of this study is to analyze the current research status and explore the relationship between metabolites and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), providing insights for future research. Methods In this study, we retrieved publications on metabolites and IBD from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC), covering the period from 1994 to 2024. We conducted descriptive and visual analyses of the topics, journals, countries/regions, institutions, authors, and citation counts of these publications. Results From January 1994 to June 2024, a total of 509 relevant publications were retrieved from the WOSCC, with the number of publications steadily increasing each year. These articles were published in 222 journals, with the top three most productive journals being inflammatory bowel diseases (36 publications), Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics (16 publications), and Digestive Diseases and Sciences (13 publications). The leading countries in publication output were China (154 publications, 30.3%), the USA (101 publications, 19.8%), and the UK (32 publications, 6.3%), with total citation counts of 3,175, 7,439, and 1,444, respectively. The most recent trending keywords in this field include "gut microbiota," "inflammation," and "pathogenesis." Conclusion Recent research on the relationship between metabolites and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has grown significantly, deepening our understanding of their connection. Further exploration of this relationship could not only enhance the quality of life for IBD patients but also offer new insights into potential cures for the disease.

Abstract
Introduction Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PC) represents a prevalent and highly aggressive malignancy within the digestive system, characterized by an exceedingly poor prognosis and a dismal 5-year survival rate of below 7%. Gemcitabine (GEM) remains the cornerstone chemotherapeutic agent in the management of PC; however, the growing challenge of GEM chemoresistance, which undermines treatment efficacy, represents a significant obstacle in clinical practice. To date, no comprehensive bibliometric analysis has been undertaken to systematically explore studies on GEM resistance in the context of PC. This study aims to deliver a thorough evaluation of the research hotspots pertaining to GEM resistance in PCs. Method A systematic search was conducted for articles published from 1 January 2010, to 15 December 2024, focusing on resistance studies of GEM in PC. Bibliometric analysis and visualization were performed utilizing VOSviewer and CiteSpace tools, applied to literature data extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Results Between 2010 and 2024, a total of 2,689 papers were published across 472 institutions in 74 countries, reflecting a consistent upward trajectory in annual publication output. China and Fudan University emerged as the leading contributors to the research output on this topic, representing the most prolific country and institution, respectively. Giovannetti, Elisa, and Yu, Xianjun are the most prolific scholars in this field. Cancer Research stands out as the most cited and impactful journal, while research on the tumor microenvironment, targeted therapy, and circular RNA has emerged as a key focus area in recent years. Conclusion This study provides a systematic and comprehensive overview of the literature on GEM resistance in PC over the past 15 years. This analysis offers scholars critical insights into the field from a bibliometric perspective, potentially informing future studies on the development of chemotherapeutic treatments for PC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND One of the major global causes of death and disability is ischemic stroke (IS). Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) emerge as a cell-based therapy for numerous diseases. Recently, research on the role of MSCs in ischemic stroke has developed rapidly worldwide. Bibliometric analysis of MSCs for IS has not yet been published, though. AIM Through bibliometric analysis, the aim of this study was to assess the current state of research on MSCs in the field of ischemic stroke research worldwide and to identify important results, major research areas, and emerging trends. METHODS Publications related to MSCs in ischemic stroke from January 1, 2002, to December 31, 2022, were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). We used HistCite, VOSViewer, CiteSpace, and Bibliometrix for bibliometric analysis and visualization. We employed the Total Global Citation Score (TGCS) to assess the impact of publications. RESULTS The bibliometric analysis included a total of 2,048 publications. The 1,386 papers used in this study were authored by 200 individuals across 200 organizations in 72 countries, published in 202 journals. Cesar V Borlongan published the most documents among high-productivity authors. Michael Chopp was the author with the highest average number of citations per paper, with an average paper citation time of 118.54. We found that research of MSCs in ischemic stroke developed rapidly starting in 2008. Neurosciences were the most productive journals, and Chinese researchers have produced the most research papers in this subject. The most cited article is "Systemic administration of exosomes released from mesenchymal stromal cells promotes functional recovery and neurovascular plasticity after stroke in rats". CONCLUSION This study uses both numbers and descriptions to thoroughly review the research on MSCs related to IS. This information provides valuable experience for researchers to carry out MSCs' work on IS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Depression has become a global public health problem. In recent years, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has gained considerable attention as a non-invasive treatment for depression. AIM To investigate the research hotspots and trends in the field of TMS-based depression treatment from a bibliometric perspective. METHODS Using the Web of Science Core Collection, articles published between 2003 and 2022 on TMS-based depression treatment were retrieved from the science citation index expanded. The publication trends and research hotspots were analyzed using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the bibliometric online analysis platform. Regression analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel 2021 to predict publication growth trends. RESULTS We identified a total of 702 articles on TMS-based depression treatment with a predominance of clinical studies. Analysis of collaborative networks showed that the United States, the University of Toronto, and Daskalakis ZJ were identified as the most impactful country, institution, and researcher, respectively. In keyword burst analysis, it was found that theta burst stimulation (TBS), functional connectivity, and frequency were the most recent research hotspots. CONCLUSION TMS provides a novel therapeutic option for patients with treatment-resistant depression. Neuroimaging technology enables more precise TMS treatment, while the novel TMS modality, TBS, enhances both therapeutic efficacy and patient experience in TMS-based depression treatment. The integration of neuroimaging techniques with TBS represents a promising research direction for advancing TMS-based depression treatment. This study presents systematic information and recommendations to guide future research on TMS-based depression treatment.

Abstract
Background Akkermansia muciniphila (A. muciniphila) is an emerging probiotic with potential impact on human health, and there is a growing interest in this area, but an overall analysis of research trends is lacking. This study conducted a detailed bibliometric analysis and visualization of A. muciniphila research to examine the current research status, hotspots, and trends, aiming to inform future research directions. Methods This study utilized the Web of Science database to search research on A. muciniphila from 2010 to 2024. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using CiteSpace and VOSviewer software to generate yearly publication trends, contributions by countries, institutions, and distinguished researchers, as well as key themes and influential researches. This analysis aimed to visualize and explore the literature over the past 15 years, guiding future researches and identifying gaps in the field of intestinal flora in A. muciniphila. Results We searched a total of 4,423 related publications. Wei Chen, Willem de Vos and Patrice D. Cani are the primary contributors to A. muciniphila 's research. The top contributing countries and institutions are China, the United States, South Korea, Spain, and Italy, with research centers such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, the University of Copenhagen, and the University of Helsinki being the main contributors. Current research hotspots focus on the molecular biology of A. muciniphila, such as its role in intestinal barrier maintenance, immune response, and its potential for regulating and treating digestive and metabolic diseases, such as cancer, fatty liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, etc., through bile acid metabolism, extracellular vesicles, and insulin resistance. Conclusion Our study synthesizes current research on A. muciniphila in various disease areas and suggests enhancing collaboration among countries, institutions, and authors to advance A. muciniphila-related clinical and basic research, explore its efficacy in a variety of diseases and the effects of commonly used clinical medications on A. muciniphila, to fill the research gaps in the current field, and to provide valid evidence for the development of A. muciniphila as a novel probiotic supplement.

Abstract
Background Virtual reality (VR) is a rapidly developing technology that has gained significant traction in the treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with stroke. Research on VR-based stroke treatment has garnered increasing attention. Objective The aim of this study is to present a bibliometric analysis of VR for stroke studies to identify the application status, research hotspots, and emerging trends and guide future scientific research. Methods We included studies and reviews on the topic of VR-based stroke treatment and rehabilitation from 1999 to 2023 were retrieved from Web of Science Core Collection database. Citespace 6.3.1 and VOSviewer 1.6.20 software was used for the visual analysis of publications, institutions, authors, journals, citations, and Scimago Graphica software was used for the geographic visualization of published countries or regions. Results Our study analyzed 1171 papers on VR-based stroke rehabilitation published between 1999 and 2023, revealing a gradual increase in annual publications over the past 2 decades, peaking at 154 in 2022. North America and Western Europe were identified as major contributors, with significant input from their institutions, researchers, and publications. The Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation emerged as the leading journal in this field, while Calabrò Rocco Salvatore was recognized as the most prolific author, focusing on the neurophysiological impacts of VR on patients with stroke. Keywords with notable citation bursts, such as "environment," "trial," "arm," and "motor learning," highlighted the core research themes in this domain. Conclusions Our study provides valuable insights into the current research hotspots and emerging trends in VR-based stroke treatment and rehabilitation. Current research primarily focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of VR in improving upper limb function and balance in patients with stroke. Future directions are shifting towards integrating VR with rehabilitation techniques, such as physiotherapy and occupational therapy, while advancements in VR technology continue to garner increasing attention.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study sought to examine the current state and explore the key areas and emerging trends in radiation dermatitis prevention and management through bibliometric analysis, with the goal of providing valuable insights for future research endeavors. METHODS This study analyzed all publications on radiation dermatitis prevention and management from the Web of Science (WOS) core database up to 2024. The CiteSpace software was utilized to visualize authors, countries/regions, publishing institutions, keywords, co-cited documents, hot spots, and research frontiers. RESULTS A total of 459 articles (1995-2024) were identified, with the overall number of publications demonstrating an increasing trend. The United States (125) produced the highest number of publications, followed by China (73) and Canada (45). Key research topics encompass breast cancer, head and neck cancer, acute radiation dermatitis, and radiation recall dermatitis. Double-blind clinical trials constitute the primary research methodology. The main research areas in this field focus on the role of radiotherapy dose fractionation modalities, atmospheric pressure cold plasma, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), aloe vera, biomodulation therapy, and biological dressings in the prevention and management of radiation dermatitis. CONCLUSION This comprehensive bibliometric analysis reveals that risk prediction, assessment tools, and the efficacy of radiodermatitis are prominent research topics in the field. These areas are currently experiencing rapid growth and warrant further attention from researchers.

Abstract
Background Recently, some studies suggested that Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) infection is an important environmental factor for Alzheimer's disease(AD). The literature on research about HSV-1 infection and AD is emerging. This study used the bibliometric method to investigate the relationship between HSV-1 infection and AD. Methods We searched the Web of Science Core Collection for relevant literature on AD and HSV-1 from 1990 to 2024. Bibliometric and visualization analyses were performed using VOSviewer and CiteSpace. Results From 1990 to 2024, the number of publications showed an increasing trend. The United States made the largest contributions in productivity. The University of Manchester was the most productive organization. Professor Ruth F. Itzhaki was the most influential researcher. The Journal of Alzheimer's Disease had published the most articles. Research on the mechanisms by which HSV infection contributes to AD remains a hotspot in the field, and future studies may further focus on antiviral therapeutic strategies targeting HSV-1 infection. Conclusion Our analysis provides basic information about research in AD and HSV-1. The current research hotspots in this field mainly include the mechanism of AD caused by HSV-1, and antiviral drugs to treat or prevent AD.

Abstract
Background Since the 1990s, neuromodulation technology has experienced rapid advancements, providing new therapeutic approaches for clinical rehabilitation in neurological disorders. The objective of this study is to utilize CiteSpace and VOSviewer to investigate the current research status, key topics, and future trends in the field of neuromodulation technology over the past decade. Methods Relevant literature in the field of neuromodulation technology published in Web of Science database from January 1, 2014 to June 18, 2024 were retrieved, and imported into CiteSpace and VOSviewer for visualization. VOSviewer was used for counties, institutions, authors and keywords analyses. CiteSpace was used for presentation visualization analysis of co-cited references, keywords clusters and bursts. Results This study encompasses a total of 1,348 relevant publications, with the number of publications showing an increasing trend year by year. The most significant growth was observed between 2020 and 2021. The United States, China and the United Kingdom are the three leading countries with high output in this regard. The top three institutions in terms of the publication volume are Harvard Medical School, the University of Toronto and Stanford University. Keyword co-occurrence and cluster analysis identified that deep brain stimulation, transcranial magnetic stimulation, transcranial direct current stimulation, and focused ultrasound stimulation are the most widely used central nerve stimulation techniques in neuromodulation. The treatment of intractable chronic pain also emerged as a key focus within neuromodulation techniques. The recent keywords bursts included terms such as recovery, movement, nucleus, modeling and plasticity, suggesting that the future research trend will be centered on these areas. Conclusion In conclusion, neuromodulation technology is garnering increasing attention from researchers and is currently widely used in brain diseases. Future research is expected to delve deeper, particularly into exploring deep brain structure stimulation targets and restoring motor function based on neuroplasticity theory.

Abstract
This study employs bibliometric methods to analyze global publication trends in monkeypox (MPX) research from 2022 to 2024. Using the Web of Science Core Collection database, we identified the top 100 cited articles from all journals and infectious disease specialty journals. The United States and the United Kingdom were the most productive countries, with significant contributions from African nations like Nigeria. Key institutions included the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the University of London. Research focused on virus transmission, clinical manifestations, and treatments, especially vaccines and antiviral strategies after MPX was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Our findings offer micro-level insights into biological mechanisms and targeted therapies, as well as macro-level perspectives on international collaboration and policy impact. These results are essential for guiding future diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive strategies.

Abstract
Background Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer (Ginseng) has a lengthy historical background of utilization and is frequently utilized for the treatment and prevention of various diseases. In recent times, researchers have shown an increasing inclination towards investigating the extraction, purification, structural analysis, and pharmacological properties of polysaccharides present in ginseng. However, there was still a lack of comprehensive and integrated analysis of ginseng polysaccharides. Methods This study employed the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) as the data source and utilized software tools including Bibliometrix R Package, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace for the purpose of conducting data visualization and analysis of ginseng polysaccharides publications. Results China emerged as the foremost and most impactful nation in the realm of ginseng polysaccharide research, fostering robust collaborative ties with Republic of Korea and the USA. Yifa Zhou was the most influential author and the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules exerted as the significant influence in this field. The reference DUBOIS M, 1956, ANAL CHEM, V28, P350 received the highest citations. Through a comprehensive examination results of keywords clustering, keywords with the strong burst, and trend topic, the research hot directions of ginseng polysaccharides were focused on structural analysis and pharmacological activities. Specifically, gut microbiota and oxidative stress were active research hotspots of investigating the pharmacological activities of ginseng polysaccharides at present, it also was corroborated in disciplinary category analysis. Conclusion This study revealed the multidimensional field of research on ginseng polysaccharides. Current hot research directions encompassed structural analysis and pharmacological activities in this field, with research hotspots focused on exploring the pharmacological activities of ginseng polysaccharides in gut microbiota and oxidative stress.

Abstract
Introduction The fields of allergy and immunology are increasingly recognizing the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI). Its adoption is reshaping research directions, clinical practices, and healthcare systems. However, a systematic overview identifying current statuses, emerging trends, and future research hotspots is lacking. Methods This study applied bibliometric analysis methods to systematically evaluate the global research landscape of AI applications in allergy and immunology. Data from 3,883 articles published by 21,552 authors across 1,247 journals were collected and analyzed to identify leading contributors, prevalent research themes, and collaboration patterns. Results Analysis revealed that the USA and China are currently leading in research output and scientific impact in this domain. AI methodologies, especially machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL), are predominantly applied in drug discovery and development, disease classification and prediction, immune response modeling, clinical decision support, diagnostics, healthcare system digitalization, and medical education. Emerging trends indicate significant movement toward personalized medical systems integration. Discussion The findings demonstrate the dynamic evolution of AI in allergy and immunology, highlighting the broadening scope from basic diagnostics to comprehensive personalized healthcare systems. Despite advancements, critical challenges persist, including technological limitations, ethical concerns, and regulatory frameworks that could potentially hinder further implementation and integration. Conclusion AI holds considerable promise for advancing allergy and immunology globally by enhancing healthcare precision, efficiency, and accessibility. Addressing existing technological, ethical, and regulatory challenges will be crucial to fully realizing its potential, ultimately improving global health outcomes and patient well-being.

Abstract
Objective This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in cervical cancer to provide a comprehensive overview of the research landscape and current advancements. Methods Relevant publications on cervical cancer and AI were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric analysis was performed using CiteSpace and VOSviewer to assess publication trends, authorship, country and institutional contributions, journal sources, and keyword co-occurrence patterns. Results From 1996 to 2024, our analysis of 770 publications on cervical cancer and AI showed a surge in research, with 86% published in the last 5 years. China (315 pubs, 32%) and the US (155 pubs, 16%) were the top contributors. Key institutions were the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Southern Medical University, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Research hotspots included disease prediction, image analysis, and machine learning in cervical cancer. Schiffman led in publications (12) and citations (207). China had the highest citations (3,819). Top journals were "Diagnostics," "Scientific Reports," and "Frontiers in Oncology." Keywords like "machine learning" and "deep learning" indicated current research trends. This study maps the field's growth, highlighting key contributors and topics. Conclusion This bibliometric analysis provides valuable insights into research trends and hotspots, guiding future studies and fostering collaboration to enhance AI applications in cervical cancer.

Abstract
Objective Although research on the association between pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer is of great significance, to date, no bibliometric analysis has been conducted on the comorbidity of these two diseases. This study aims to explore the current status and cutting - edge trends in this field through bibliometric analysis, and to establish new directions for future research. Methods Using the Web of Science Core Collection database, statistical calculations, graphic, and data visualization tools such as CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Biblimatrix - biblioshiny were adopted. Results A total of 2,234 original Articles and Reviews on pulmonary fibrosis complicated by lung cancer published between 2004 and 2024 were identified. A slow growth trend in publications related to pulmonary fibrosis complicated by lung cancer was observed. The United States, Japan, and China were the countries with the greatest contributions. Professor Michael Kreuter from Marienhaus Clinic, Mainz, Germany, and the University of Michigan published the most articles. Through cluster analysis of co - cited literature, five main clusters were identified. Keyword analysis predicted that "nintedanib", "pirfenidone", "immunotherapy", etc. might become hot topics in the field of the comorbidity of pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer. Conclusion This bibliometric analysis shows that the literature related to the comorbidity of pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer is on a continuous upward trend. The research hotspots and trends identified in this study provide a reference for in - depth research in this field, aiming to promote the development of research on the comorbidity of pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer.

Abstract
Most studies suggest that B vitamins can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer (CRC), and research in this field has been growing. Focusing on 2617 articles in the field, this study used CiteSpace and VOSviewer software to evaluate the contributions of various countries/regions, institutions, authors, and journals. The United States and Harvard University were identified as the most productive nation and institution, respectively, with Edward L. Giovannucci (Harvard) being the top contributor. Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention was recognized as the leading journal. Through the analysis of keywords and citations, we found that the potential of B vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B9, and B12) in the prevention and treatment of CRC and their mechanisms including regulation of gene expression, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, and modulation of gut microenvironment are hot topics of research in this field. Burst detection analysis further revealed that the application of nanoparticle-based targeted drug delivery systems (such as folate-conjugated nanocarriers) in the treatment of CRC represents both a current hotspot and a future trend. This study offers a comprehensive overview of the field, highlights research hotspots and trends, and offers valuable information for researchers to further grasp the research direction.

Abstract
Background Tuberculosis (TB) poses a serious threat to public health, particularly owing to the increase in multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and extremely drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB); thus, there is an imperative need for novel treatments to tackle this issue. Decaprenylphosphoryl-β-D-ribose 2'-epimerase (DprE1) is essential for mycobacterial cell wall integrity and viability. As no relevant bibliometric study has been reported, we performed bibliometric and visual analyses to depict the knowledge framework of research related to the involvement of DprE1 in TB. Methods Relevant studies were sourced from the Web of Science Core Collection database. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and bibliometrics (http://bibliometric.com/) were used to construct networks based on an analysis of journals, countries, funding, institutions, authors, references, and keywords. Results A total of 184 publications were retrieved; the total citations were 3405 times and the mean citation was 17.28 per article. The annual number of publications on DprE1 in TB has shown a significantly increasing trend. The European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry is the most published journal, with 19 articles. Lu Yu and Bin Wang contributed the most prolific authors with 18 articles. Stratified by the number of publications, India was the most prolific country that cooperated closely with the USA, UK, Japan, and United Arab Emirates. Burstness analysis of references and keywords showed that the developing research trends in this field mainly woven around "Mtb", "DprE1" and "inhibitors" during the past years. Conclusion A systematic bibliometric study indicates that DprE1 remains a focal point in the anti-TB domain. These results can serve as a data-driven reference for future research and offer precise insights into the development of anti-TB agents associated with DprE1. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to comprehensively investigate DprE1 in TB by means of bibliometric analysis.

Abstract
Introduction The goal was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current research status, hotspots and cutting-edge dynamics in the field of cake fertilizer application in agriculture at home and abroad from 2000 to 2024. Methods The study employed the bibliometric analysis method and CiteSpace visualisation software to investigate the research results of the field of cake fertilizer agriculture in greenhouse gases and soil improvement included in the Core Collection Database of Web of Science. Results The findings of the keyword analysis, collaborative network analysis, and publication count analysis demonstrated that (1) "The number of related literatures was small and in its infancy before 2007,accounting for 17% of the total number of publications; the slow growth phase was from 2008-2016, accounting for 39% of the total number of publications(with a growth rate of 1.65%); and the rapid increase phase was after 2017-2023, accounting for 39% of the total number of publications(with a growth rate of 3.89%). (2) India ranked first in terms of the number of publications, and China ranked second in terms of the number of publications, but China was first in terms of intermediary centrality, and the authors were all loosely distributed, choosing to publish their research results in international journals with an impact factor of greater than 2 in the field of agriculture. (3) Universities are the primary source of research findings in this field among the issuing institutions. (4) The research hotspots include nitrogen, soil, growth, yield, manure, fertilizer, quality, management; The research themes with the greatest number of keywords are "bag filiter," and "bacillus sp " has the highest profile value; The development trends are as follows: prior to 2016, the fertilizer program studied various organic fertilizers in combination with chemical fertilizers or different types of organic fertilizers to explore the impact on crop yields; subsequent to 2016, the fertilizer program studied cake fertilizers with new materials to evaluate the impact on crop yield quality and soil fertility. Going forward, the emphasis should be on blending environmentally friendly components with cake fertilizers and carrying out comprehensive studies on soil enhancement and greenhouse gas mitigation strategies. Discussion This study offers new insights and ideas on the future research direction and development potential of cake fertilizer in agricultural greenhouse gas emission reduction and soil improvement. It also serves as a valuable reference for understanding the development trend of cake fertilizer application in agriculture from 2000 to 2023.

Abstract
Objectives Multimodal analgesia (MA) is a cornerstone in perioperative pain management, enhancing pain relief and minimizing opioid consumption by targeting various pain pathways. This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of MA research from 2013 to 2023 to understand its development and impact on perioperative care. Methods A comprehensive literature search of the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) was conducted, covering publications from January 2013 to December 2023. Data were analyzed using VOSviewer and other bibliometric tools to identify publication trends, key contributors, and emerging research themes. Results The analysis identified 1,939 studies on MA, with a notable increase in annual publications since 2020. The USA, China, and Canada were the leading contributors. Key terms like Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS), and Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCA) were frequently associated with MA. Significant journals included the Cureus Journal of Medical Science and Anesthesia and Analgesia. Influential authors such as Richard D. Urman and Henrik Kehlet were highlighted for their contributions. The research showed significant advancements and growing global interest in MA. Conclusion The study underscores the growing importance of MA in perioperative pain management, with significant contributions from leading countries and researchers. Future research should focus on optimizing pain management protocols, enhancing patient recovery, and reducing opioid dependency through MA.

Abstract
Nitrogen-containing compounds, particularly those with chiral amine structures, play a crucial role in the development of organic active pharmaceutical ingredients. Imine reductases (IREDs), NAD(P)H-dependent enzymes that catalyze the reduction of cyclic imines and the reductive amination of prochiral ketones, offer significant industrial potential for the synthesis of chiral amines. However, despite the growing body of research, a comprehensive and unbiased assessment of IRED research remains lacking. This study aims to explore the research landscape and evolution of IREDs using bibliometric and knowledge mapping methods. A total of 239 research articles and reviews on IREDs, published between 2010 and 2024, were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection and analyzed using tools such as CiteSpace, VOSviewer, Pajek, and Scimago Graphica. Results showed a consistent increase in both publications and citations, with a sharp rise since 2014. Collaboration network analysis revealed that the United Kingdom leads the field in terms of publications and influential institutions, while ChemCatChem was identified as the journal with the highest number of articles. Nicholas J. Turner emerged as a key researcher, having published the most papers and achieving the second-highest citation frequency. Research trends and keyword analysis highlighted areas of focus such as IRED crystal structure resolution, protein engineering modifications, and expanded industrial applications, including multi-enzyme cascade reactions. Ongoing advancements in synthetic biology, protein modifications, and enzyme engineering are expected to drive further studies on highly active IREDs for asymmetric synthesis of pharmaceutical compounds, positioning this research at the forefront of the field. By employing bibliometric analysis, this study provides the first visual representation of IRED research, offering valuable insights into current trends and emerging topics that will aid scholars in identifying key research areas and potential collaborators.

Abstract
Background The pathological features of Parkinson's disease (PD) include the formation of Lewy bodies composed mainly of aggregated alpha-synuclein (α-Syn) and extensive neurodegeneration. Synaptic dysfunction is a key factor contributing to disease progression among the various cellular and molecular mechanisms of PD. This study aims to analyze the research hotspots, frontier trends, and future directions of PD and synapses. Method Relevant publications were obtained using the Web of Science database. Software CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and bibliometrix were used for visualization and quantitative analysis. Results A total of 3,823 publications were included for analysis, and the number of publications related to the research topic showed an increasing trend from 2001 to 2024. North America, Asia, and Europe were the main research forces with high activity. The United States was the main leader in this field, followed by China and Italy. Emory University was the institution with the largest number of publications. Journal of Neuroscience was the core journal with a large number of publications. Dr. Calabresi, Paolo was a leader in the field of research. High-frequency keywords included PD, α-Syn, synaptic plasticity, basal ganglia, dopamine, substantia-nigra. In recent years, neuroinflammation has been the subject of active research. Conclusion Communication and collaboration between different countries, institutions, and authors have promoted the development of this field. The research content mainly focused on α-Syn, synaptic plasticity, and mouse model. Neuroinflammation may be the direction of future research.

Abstract
Background The cannabinoids and endocannabinoid system are thought to play critical roles in multiple signaling pathways in organisms, and extensive evidence from preclinical studies indicated that cannabinoids and endocannabinoids displayed anticancer potential. This study aimed to summarize the research of cannabinoids and endocannabinoid system in cancer through bibliometric analysis. Methods Relevant literature in the field of cannabinoids and endocannabinoid system in cancer published during 1995-2024 were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection database. VOSviewer and SCImago Graphica were applied to perform bibliometric analysis of countries, institutions, authors, journals, documents, and keywords. Results A total of 3,052 publications were identified, and the global output exhibited a generally upward trend over the past 3 decades. The USA had the greatest number of publications and citations in this research field. Italian National Research Council led in terms of publication, while Complutense University of Madrid had the highest total citations. Vincenzo Di Marzo was the leading author in this field with the greatest number of publications and citations. The co-occurrence of keywords revealed that the research frontiers mainly included "cannabinoids", "endocannabinoid system", "cancer", "anandamide", "cannabidiol", "cannabinoid receptor", "apoptosis", and "proliferation". Conclusion Our results revealed that the research of cannabinoids and endocannabinoid system in cancer would receive continuous attention. The USA and Italy have made remarkable contributions to this field, supported by their influential institutions and prolific scholars. The research emphasis has evolved from basic functional characterization to mechanistic exploration of disease pathways and translational applications within multidisciplinary framework.
