Abstract
A 79 year old female individual presented to the hospital and complained of 1 month melena and anemia due to chronic gastrointestinal bleeding because of cavernous hemangiomatosis of the small bowel. After undergoing an initial video laparoscopic jejunal-ileal resection surgery 7 days after first hospitalization, given the persistence of anemia, she underwent laparotomic duodenojejunal resection surgery again 2 months later. Multiple cavernous hemangiomatosis is a rare vascular disease (7-10% of all benign small bowel tumors), and it often manifests with bleeding, which may be occult or massive; more rarely, it manifests with intestinal occlusion or perforation. Diagnoses often require the use of multiple radiological and endoscopic methods; video capsule endoscopy has significantly increased the diagnostic rate. The gold standard of treatment is surgical resection, whenever possible, balancing the need for radicality with the possible metabolic consequences of massive small intestine resections.

Abstract
An 86-year-old man presented with anemia. He underwent abdominal contrast-enhanced computed tomography, gastroscopy, and colonoscopy without any bleeding detected. Small bowel capsule endoscopy (SBCE) revealed a reddish polypoid lesion with blood oozing into the jejunum. Antegrade double-balloon endoscopy (DBE) revealed a 5 mm sized protrusion into the jejunum. Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) was difficult; the lesion was snared and resected before energization. Clips prevented further bleeding and the lesion's position was marked with a tattoo. Histopathological examination of the lesion led to a diagnosis of capillary hemangioma. After 11 months, the patient was again anemic. A reddish polypoid lesion oozing blood near the tattoo was found by SBCE. Another antegrade DBE showed a 7 mm sized protrusion near the tattoo. The lesion was successfully treated by EMR. Histopathological examination revealed the residual recurrence of a small intestinal capillary hemangioma. The patient recovered from anemia after the EMR. Two months later, SBCE showed no findings around the tattoo. Hemangiomas account for 7-10% of benign small intestinal tumors; most are cavernous hemangiomas, and capillary hemangiomas are rare. We report a rare case of a recurring small intestinal capillary hemangioma detected by SBCE and treated using DBE. We also review the literature.

Abstract
To evaluate the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of gastrointestinal vascular tumours. By reviewing the information from the electronic medical record system and pathology database of Hangzhou First People's Hospital affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine and Jiaxing First People’s Hospital from June 2008 to December 2019, 31 patients pathologically diagnosed with vascular tumours were included in this study. The age of onset, sex differences, clinical manifestations, imaging and endoscopic characteristic manifestations, pathological characteristics, treatment methods and prognosis were analysed. The pathological classification was haemangiolymphangioma, haemangioma, and lymphangioma in 8, 14, and 9 cases, respectively. The age of onset was 44–66 years, with no significant difference according to sex (P = 0.583); 32.26% (10/31) of patients had no noticeable symptoms, 37.5% (12/31) of patients had gastrointestinal bleeding, and 6.45% (2/31) of patients, all with lymphangioma, had intestinal obstruction. The lesions were located in and below the duodenum. Endoscopy showed colour differences. Both endoscopic and surgical treatments were safe and effective. The mean survival time was 57.06 ± 35.64 months. Regarding vascular tumours without typical symptoms, the main pathological classification is haemangioma. Vascular tumours are often clinically identified because of bleeding or obstruction and can be treated with endoscopy or surgery. Clinical follow-up is recommended because no invasive manifestations or instances of recurrence were observed.

Abstract
Introduction Hemangiomas of the small intestine are rare, usually present with symptoms such as anemia, gastrointestinal bleeding or abdominal pain and are resected. We report resection of an incidentally identified cavernous hemangioma of the small intestine that did not present symptoms referable to the hemangioma. Although it was a large lesion, it was resected using laparoscopy and a mini-laparotomy. Presentation of case A 29-year-old otherwise healthy man was referred for evaluation of ileal wall thickening found on a contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan obtained for the workup of chronic diarrhea. Double balloon enteroscopy (DBE) showed a cavernous hemangioma of the small intestine. The lesion was 15 cm and resected using laparoscopy and a mini-laparotomy to prevent future bleeding. The histopathological diagnosis was a cavernous hemangioma of the ileum. Discussion Though there have been no reports of the asymptomatic patients of the disease, the recent spread of double balloon enteroscopy and capsule endoscopy will allow us to diagnose more asymptomatic hemangiomas like this patient. Also, this large lesion was able to be resected through a small incision due to its compressible nature. Conclusion Future studies in asymptomatic patients of the disease may help to determine the optimal management for these patients. Even large hemangiomas are compressible, facilitating minimally invasive resection.
Hemangiomas of the small intestine are rare disease. They have always been diagnosed with symptoms such as anemia and bleeding so far. An asymptomatic hemangioma of the small intestine was incidentally identified. It was big, but laparoscopic resection was possible due to its compressible nature. To determine the optimal treatment for asymptomatic lesions is a task in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hemangioma of the small intestine is a rare vascular malformation. Before the advent of capsule endoscopy (CE) and balloon-assisted enteroscopy (BAE), preoperative diagnosis of this disease was extremely difficult.
CASE SUMMARY In this study, we report a 24-year-old female with a large transmural small bowel cavernous hemangioma, which was diagnosed with CE and BAE preoperatively and removed successfully using minimally invasive surgery. Meanwhile, we perform a literature review of the studies about intestinal hemangiomas published after 2000. Literature review revealed that 91.9% of the lesions were diagnosed preoperatively by CE and/or BAE and 45.9% of them were treated endoscopically, which is a marked improvement compared to before 2000. Therefore, CE and BAE are useful modalities for the preoperative diagnosis of hemangiomas in the small intestine.
CONCLUSION Endoscopic treatment of intestinal hemangioma is generally prudent and might be suitable for multiple, relatively small lesions.

Abstract
Hemangiomas of the small intestine are rare and very difficult to diagnose preoperatively. Clinical presentations may include occult or massive gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, obstruction, intussusception, and perforation. We report a 66-year-old Caucasian male patient with severe anemia secondary to occult GI bleeding from a cavernous hemangioma in the jejunum. A double balloon enteroscopy following capsule endoscopy was performed to obtain biopsy samples, which established the final diagnosis.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The objective is to provide an overview on the cause of small bowel bleeding. We discuss the role of small bowel endoscopy in the management of small bowel bleeding and provide an outline of pharmacotherapy that can be additionally beneficial. RECENT FINDINGS Small bowel capsule endoscopy (SBCE) is the initial diagnostic investigation of choice in small bowel bleeding. Computed tomography (CT) can be helpful in the context of small bowel tumours. Device-assisted enteroscopy (DAE) enables several therapeutic procedures such as argon plasma coagulation (APC) and haemoclip application. It can also guide further management with histology or by marking culprit lesions with India ink. A persistent rate of rebleeding despite APC is increasingly being reported. Pharmacotherapy has an emerging role in the management of small bowel bleeding. Somatostatin analogues are a well tolerated class of drugs that can play an additional role in the management of refractory bleeding secondary to small bowel angioectasias. SUMMARY SBCE is useful in determining the cause of small bowel bleeding. DAE offers an endoscopic therapeutic approach to small bowel bleeding replacing surgery and intraoperative enteroscopy. Pharmacotherapy, in addition to endotherapy, can play an important role in the management of multifocal, recurring bleeding small bowel lesions.

Abstract
Despite the small bowel comprising 90% of the mucosal surface area of the gastrointestinal tract, it is a rare site for neoplasia and only accounts for a little over 3% of the tumors that arise in the digestive tract. Benign small bowel lesions include lipomas, lymphangiomas, leiomyomas, neurofibromas, nodular lymphoid hyperplasia and adenomas, many of which are precursors to malignant lesions. Several polyposis syndromes are associated with small bowel polyps as well, including familial adenomatous polyposis syndrome, lynch syndrome, Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, Cowden syndrome and juvenile polyposis syndrome. Our aim was to review non-malignant small bowel polyps and discuss the prevalence, typical location, clinical presentation, diagnosis, endoscopic and histologic description and lastly management of each of these lesions.

Abstract
Among the various diagnostic modalities for small bowel hemangioma, video capsule endoscopy (VCE) and double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) can be recommended as part of the work-up in patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB). DBE is superior to VCE in the accuracy of diagnosis and therapeutic potential, while in most cases total enteroscopy cannot be achieved through only the antegrade or retrograde DBE procedures. As treatment for small bowel bleeding, especially spout bleeding, localization of the lesion for the decision of DBE insertion facilitates early treatment, such as endoscopic hemostatic clipping, allowing patients to avoid useless transfusion and the worsening of their disease into life-threatening status. Applying endoscopic India ink marking prior to laparoscopic surgical resection is a particularly useful technique for more minimally invasive treatment. We report two cases of small bowel hemangioma found in examinations for OGIB that were treated with combination of laparoscopic and endoscopic modalities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Small-bowel hemangioma is a rare disease that often causes active bleeding. The standard therapeutic method for small-bowel hemangioma is surgical resection. The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of polidocanol injection (PDI) for small-bowel hemangiomas. METHODS This study included 12 patients with obscure GI bleeding (6 male; mean age 62 years) with 39 small-bowel hemangiomas; patients were treated with PDI by using double-balloon endoscopy (DBE). EUS with DBE was performed before PDI. The lesions were divided into 2 groups according to tumor size: Group A (size <10 mm; 20 lesions) and group B (size ≥10 mm; 19 lesions). The outcomes of PDI treatment for small-bowel hemangioma were evaluated between the 2 groups. Additionally, in order to standardize the amount of PDI injected, the total amount of polidocanol according to lesion size was calculated. RESULTS There was no difference in the location of lesions and treatment times between the 2 groups. Group B had a significantly higher injection time per lesion (P < .05) and amount of polidocanol per lesion than group A (P < .01). Rebleeding occurred in only 1 case (8%). There were no adverse events related to PDI. The contribution ratio between the lesion size and amount of polidocanol showed a correlation (r = 0.77). The optimal amount of polidocanol for small-bowel hemangioma was determined to be 0.2 mL/mm. CONCLUSIONS PDI is an easy, safe, and effective method to treat small-bowel hemangiomas.

Abstract
Primary neoplasms of the small intestine are relatively rare in all age groups, accounting for about 5 % of all gastrointestinal tumors 1. Cavernous hemangiomas of the small intestine are also rare, can cause gastrointestinal bleeding, and are extremely difficult to diagnose preoperatively 2. We present a patient who presented with melena and iron deficiency anemia, for whom wireless capsule endoscopy and single-balloon enteroscopy facilitated the diagnosis of cavernous hemangioma.

Abstract
Cavernous hemangiomas of the gastrointestinal tract are extremely rare. In particular, the diagnosis of small bowel hemangiomas is very difficult in children. A 13-year-old boy presented at the outpatient clinic with dizziness and fatigue. The patient was previously diagnosed with iron-deficiency anemia at 3 years of age and had been treated with iron supplements continuously and pure red cell transfusion intermittently. Laboratory tests indicated that the patient currently had iron-deficiency anemia. There was no evidence of gross bleeding, such as hematemesis or bloody stool. Laboratory findings indicated no bleeding tendency. Gastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy results were negative. To obtain a definitive diagnosis, the patient underwent capsule endoscopy. A purplish stalked mass was found in the jejunum, and the mass was excised successfully. We report of a 13-year-old boy who presented with severe and recurrent iron-deficiency anemia caused by a cavernous hemangioma in the small bowel without symptoms of gastrointestinal bleeding.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Diffuse cavernous hemangioma of the rectum (DCHR) is a rare benign vascular disease, which is often misdiagnosed and difficult to treat. METHODS Seventeen cases of DCHR in our hospitals from 1995 to 2009 were identified. The detailed data of diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis were carefully studied. RESULTS Seven, three, two, and one patient were mistaken as having hemorrhoids, colitis, portal hypertension, and rectal polypus, respectively. The mean delay time between initial symptoms and final diagnosis was 17.63 years (range = 0-48 years). Colonoscopy and MRI were important in the diagnosis of DCHR because of their high positive rates and specific features. All of the lesions originated from the dentate line, extending to the proximal colorectal wall. Most of the lesions were found to be restricted to the rectosigmoid wall and the rectal mesentery. Involvement of right gluteus maximus and right leg was revealed by MRI in two patients. After admission, six patients underwent coloanal sleeve anastomosis and seven patients underwent pull-through transection and coloanal anastomosis. The latter procedure was superior to the former with respect to length of operation, intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative blood transfusion, and perioperative complications. CONCLUSION DCHR is often misdiagnosed. Preoperative colonoscopy and MRI are essential in making the correct diagnosis and to depict the extent of the lesion accurately. Due to its origination from the dentate line and the involvement of the whole layer of the rectal wall and the rectal mesentery, the treatment of choice for DCHR is complete resection by the pull-through transection and coloanal anastomosis.

Abstract
We present a rare case of a 45-year-old woman who presented with epigastric pain associated with early satiety and weight loss. Imaging revealed a large intra-abdominal mass in the epigastrium. Despite intensive investigations, including ultrasound scanning, computed tomography, upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, and percutaneous biopsy, a diagnosis could not be obtained. A histological diagnosis of cavernous hemangioma arising from the gastro-splenic ligament was confirmed after laparoscopic excision and histological examination of the intra-abdominal epigastric mass.
