The clinical significance of peripheral blood-derived mesenchymal stem cell exosomal circular RNAs is rooted in their covalent closed-loop structure, which provides inherent stability and resistance to RNase-mediated degradation compared with linear mRNA. These biomarkers function as dual indicators, simultaneously reflecting the severity of enterocyte damage and the systemic inflammatory burden associated with acute mesenteric ischemia. Furthermore, their differential expression patterns allow for precise surgical triage by distinguishing early reversible ischemia from advanced necrotic acute mesenteric ischemia, thereby identifying critical surgical urgency.
